Multi-balloon catheter with hydrogel coating

In one aspect of the invention a multi-balloon catheter, such as a double-balloon catheter, with coating comprising a hydrogel polymer on the exterior surface of the occlusion balloons is provided. The balloons may be inflated inside the lumen to occlude a plaque-affected segment of the lumen thereby forming a lumen space between the balloons, wherein this plaque-affected lumen segment may be treated with a biologically active agent. The presence of the coating can reduce de-nuding of healthy endothelial lumen tissue after contact with the inflated balloons during the occlusion. In another aspect of the invention, a method is provided for using a multi-balloon catheter having a coating comprising a hydrogel polymer for treating a plaque-affected lumen segment, the method reducing the subsequent de-nuding or injury to healthy endothelial tissue that is contacted by the balloon during occlusion.

Spacer for providing drainage passageways within building structures

A roll-form spacer product providing air space and drainage passageways within a building structure. Preferably, the spacer product is a corrugated web of material having undulating front and rear faces and serpentine-shaped longitudinally extending edges. The faces include alternating arrays of grooves and ridges which extend perpendicular to the side edges and parallel to an axis of a spiral roll of the spacer. Thus, when the spacer is unrolled and applied to a building structure in a plurality of horizontally extending rows, the ridges and grooves are substantially vertically-disposed to form a plurality of unobstructed passageways for the drainage of moisture. Preferably, the web is made of an openwork mat of randomly convoluted polymeric filaments, and thus, enables ready circulation of air.

Multi component controlled release system for anhydrous cosmetic compositions

The present invention relates to an improved controlled release system that can be incorporated into anhydrous cosmetic formulations and can encapsulate different types of fragrances, flavors, active ingredients, or combinations of fragrances, flavors, and various active ingredients. The controlled delivery system of the present invention is substantially free-flowing powder formed of solid hydrophobic nano-spheres that are encapsulated in a moisture sensitive micro-spheres. The fragrances, flavors, and active ingredients encapsulated in the nano-spheres can be the same or different from those encapsulated in the micro-sphere. The encapsulation of one or more fragrances, flavors or active agents in the various components of the system, such as nano-spheres and micro-spheres, provides odor or flavor transition (change in odor character or change in flavor character) during the use of the product, in response to moisture, such as wetting the lips, perspiration, and the like. The incorporation of the controlled release system of the present invention into anhydrous cosmetic formulations was found to provide moisture triggered release, as well as prolonged release of the fragrances, flavors, and active ingredients that are encapsulated in the solid hydrophobic nano-spheres over an extended period of time.

Methods of drilling through-holes in homogenous and non-homogeneous substrates

A differential diameter hole drilling method by which through-holes having improved major surface quality are formed in a target material involves drilling a pilot hole having a diameter that is less than the desired diameter of the through-hole and then drilling a through-hole having the desired diameter. The pilot hole forms a channel from which thermal energy produced during laser drilling can diffuse into the environment, thereby reducing the amount of thermal energy diffusing into the surrounding target material matrix and the degree of thermal damage to the heat affected zone of the target material matrix. The pilot hole also forms a channel through which ablated target material may be removed, thereby increasing overall through-hole throughput. Pilot hole formation reduces the thermal energy required to form the remaining portion of the through-hole and thereby results in less thermal damage to the surrounding target material matrix.

Lockable latch with catch for a safe

This lockable latch with catch for use with briefcase type fireproof safes allows the user to carry the safe by its handle (briefcase style) without the lid being locked to the body. It has both a latch and a catch that can pivot or move away from their engagement positions in a plane parallel to, and within, the body of the safe. A release button pivots the latch away from its engagement position and thereby unlatches the latch. Alternatively, a locking member can be interposed so as to prevent the latch from pivoting away from its position of engagement with the catch when the safe is locked. When the locking member is engaged and the latch is thereby locked into engagement position, the ability of the catch to temporarily pivot or move out of the way of the latch still allows the safe lid to snap shut.

Power Drill Alignment and Depth Measurement Device

The present invention provides a device and method for aligning a drill bit of a hand drill to a specific angle—typically, perpendicular to the surface to be drilled. Concurrently, the invention provides a method to measure the depth of the drilled hole. The device of the invention comprises: (a) a signal source that generates a signal (typically a light pattern) that varies in response to changes in angle or depth of the drill bit; and (b) a holder to which the signal source is attached, the holder is mounted to the drill chuck of the drill and moves with its rotation. By using of the present invention, an image is generated that changes with angle or depth changes of the drill bit. This image is used by the operator to orient the angle of the drill bit or to determine the depth of the hole drilled.

Method of bonding a lenticular lens sheet to plastic objects and objects made from same

A method of fabricating plastic objects having an insert of Lenticular lens material integrally bonded or otherwise attached therein. In one embodiment, the method is used to fabricate a container, such as a conical cup, by first manufacturing or providing a sheet of Lenticular material comprising layers of lens material and optical ridges and grooves and an ink layer printed on the flat side of the lens material. To protect the ink from the heat of molten or moldable plastic during later plastic processing, a thermally protective substrate is attached or bonded to the ink layer by using adhesives to attach a plastic substrate or by coating the ink with coating materials that thermally protect the ink from high temperatures. In one embodiment, the protective substrate is applied in a two step process of first placing a plastic hot melt onto a polyester or other material release liner and, after cooling of the hot melt, using heat and pressure to laminate or bond the hot melt plastic to the ink and then removing the liner. Lenticular inserts are cut out of the Lenticular material sheets and the inserts are positioned within a mold where the container is formed by injection, blow, or other molding process. In this step, the substrate acts as a bonding surface as it contacts the molten plastic, melts, and then cools forming a bonding interface with the plastic used to form the container.
