166 results about "Triggered release" patented technology

Release is then triggered via a passive (non-metabolic) mechanism, an environmental cue made possible by the properties of the plant tissues involved. This physical triggering is a common method in ecosystems where fires are prevalent.

Compositions and method for targeted controlled delivery of active ingredients and sensory markers onto hair, skin, and fabric

The present invention is a controlled delivery system that can be incorporated in hair, skin, and fabric care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, lotions, creams, liquid laundry detergents, fabric softener, and other hair, skin, and fabric care products to effectively deliver a broad range of active agents and sensory markers onto the hair, skin, and fabric. The system also prolongs the release rate of the active agents or sensory markers over an extended period of time, or provides heat triggered release of the active agents and yields a high impact fragrance “burst” upon blow drying the hair, ironing the fabric, or other types of heat treatment. The controlled delivery system of the present invention is a nano-sphere, having an average sphere diameter of from about 0.01 microns to about 10 microns. The nano-sphere comprises hydrophobic materials, cationic conditioning agent or, cationic conditioning agent in conjunction with a cationic charge booster to assist in adhering the spheres onto hair, skin, and fabric. The invention further relates to a controlled delivery system where the release rate of the active ingredients is synchronized with that of a sensory marker to convey to the consumer the product performance.

Multi component controlled release system for anhydrous cosmetic compositions

The present invention relates to an improved controlled release system that can be incorporated into anhydrous cosmetic formulations and can encapsulate different types of fragrances, flavors, active ingredients, or combinations of fragrances, flavors, and various active ingredients. The controlled delivery system of the present invention is substantially free-flowing powder formed of solid hydrophobic nano-spheres that are encapsulated in a moisture sensitive micro-spheres. The fragrances, flavors, and active ingredients encapsulated in the nano-spheres can be the same or different from those encapsulated in the micro-sphere. The encapsulation of one or more fragrances, flavors or active agents in the various components of the system, such as nano-spheres and micro-spheres, provides odor or flavor transition (change in odor character or change in flavor character) during the use of the product, in response to moisture, such as wetting the lips, perspiration, and the like. The incorporation of the controlled release system of the present invention into anhydrous cosmetic formulations was found to provide moisture triggered release, as well as prolonged release of the fragrances, flavors, and active ingredients that are encapsulated in the solid hydrophobic nano-spheres over an extended period of time.

High-speed vaccination device

A device for the rapid injection of a biological into the skin of a person. The device comprisies a hand-held applicator and a tape cassette adapted to be inserted into the applicator prior to use. The cassette houses a transportable tape having multiple doses of a biological disposed on a plurality of discrete clusters of microneedles affixed to the tape. In operation, a cassette is inserted into the applicator and a discrete cluster of microneedles advanced to a position adjacent a delivery opening in the applicator. A trigger advances the microneedle cluster to project outwardly through the delivery opening. The applicator is then pressed against the skin to force the cluster of microneedles into the skin. The applicator further includes means for applying an electric field between the microneedles and the skin to electrophoretically assist penetation of the biological into the skin. When the device is retracted from the skin and the trigger released, the next discrete cluster of biological-laden microneedles is advanced to underlie the delivery opening via a stepping tape transport means. The device may be used by relatively unskilled personnel to rapidly and painlessly vaccinate a large number of people.

Paintball marker pistol with slide action automatic re-cocking

InactiveUS20060027224A1Efficient and effectiveSimulating the recoil sliding actionCompressed gas gunsMechanical engineeringPoppet valve
The present invention comprises a novel hammer and biasing system in a paintball pistol to achieve automatic re-cocking with closed bolt results in a marker pistol configuration typically associated with open bolt systems. The trigger releases a compressions hammer that nests in a hammer sleeve, but an aperture in the hammer sleeve permits a protrusion on the compression hammer to strike a poppet valve which releases a burst of gas. The gas pressure forced into the barrel causes the paint ball to be expelled from the barrel, and forces the hammer and bolt assembly aft due to increased pressure in the lower bore. The pressure against the front wall of a hammer sleeve pushes the hammer sleeve aft, along with the compression hammer. Also, because the bolt is interconnected to the hammer sleeve it is forced back in the upper barrel as well. When forced back, the bolt allows the breach to open and a paintball to drop into the chamber. Also, the sear catches the compression hammer in the cocked position. The interconnected combination of the hammer sleeve, bolt and slide cover causes the slide cover to move back as well. Springs interconnected between the slide cover and the housing are stretched when the slide cover moves back, but biases the slide cover to return to its forward position. Because the slide cover is interconnected to the bolt and hammer sleeve, the return of the slide cover forward by the springs, also resets the bolt and hammer sleeve to their forward ready to fire position.

Method of Movement Compensation for a Weapon

A method for stabilizing an image and compensating for movement of a weapon is provided, comprising: providing an image stabilization device for an optical scope mounted on a weapon, wherein the image stabilization device includes a sensor to detect motion of the weapon; providing a trigger release device operatively connected to a trigger on the weapon; detecting movement of the weapon by the sensor; generating an output signal from the sensor, wherein the output signal corresponds to the position and velocity of the weapon in a plane perpendicular to the line of sight; processing the output signal to determine an optimal release period, and then generating a release signal during the release period; and using the release signal to activate the trigger release.
