Laser for coherent LIDAR

InactiveUS7894044B1Eliminates unnecessary weightCloud height indicatorOptical rangefindersElectromagnetic wave reradiationOptical pathCloud height
A method for achieving optimum coaxial lidar configuration using optical fibers. Optical fibers are used with mirrors or lenses to create light paths that can achieve an optimum lidar configuration while employing fewer components than that of prior art for a more simplified, lightweight, and less expensive system to produce. The lidar components, including the laser source and the light detector unit, may be placed in a separate housing. A separate housing eliminates unnecessary weight in the optical telescope assembly, makes scanning of the system easier, and enables a better omni-directional cloud height indicator.

Sectional crimped graft

InactiveUS20070198079A1Limits overall longitudinal extensionEasy to deployStentsBlood vesselsSurgical GraftStent grafting
The present invention provides a sectional crimped graft that allows graft flexibility where required and limits the overall longitudinal extension. The present invention overcomes the disadvantage of fully crimped grafts by controlling the number of crimps per unit length, crimp height, crimp geometry and their location along the graft wall, dependent on the particular end-use application. In so doing, flexibility and elongation can be controllably tailored only in areas where significant anatomical angulation is present. It may also be useful in applications other than stent grafts such as surgical grafts for aortic and peripheral areas. Limiting the overall graft longitudinal extension also facilitates the deployment of the stent-graft into the blood vessel.

Method and system for high-speed, high-resolution, 3-D imaging of an object at a vision station

A method and system for high-speed, high-resolution, 3-D imaging of an object including an anamorphic magnification and field lens system to deliver the light reflected from the object to a small area position detector having a position-sensing direction. Preferably, an acousto-optic deflector together with associated lens elements scans a beam of modulated laser light across the object to produce a telecentric, flat field scan. The deflector has a feedback loop to enable uniform illumination of the object. The light scattered from the object is collected by a telecentric receiver lens. A combined spatial and polarization filtering plane preferably in the form of a programmable mask is provided to control the polarization and acceptance angles of the collected light. A reduction or focusing lens is positioned immediately behind the filtering plane and is utilized as a telescope objective. The lens system includes a negative cylinder lens having a relatively large focal length and a field lens having a relatively small focal length. The cylinder lens and the reduction lens magnify the image in the position sensing direction of the detector and the field lens delivers the magnified light to the detector. The detector is a photodetector such as a lateral effect photodiode or a rectangular lateral effect detector. A pre-amplifier provides a pair of electrical signals which are utilized by signal processing circuitry to compute the centroid of the light spot.

Semiconductor device and semiconductor device manufacturing method

A capacitor insulating film composed of a layered film of first- to third-layer hafnium oxide films is formed on a lower electrode of a capacitor. The first- and third-layer hafnium oxide films have a composition ratio of oxygen to hafnium higher than the second-layer hafnium oxide film. Thus, the capacitor insulating film is composed of the first- and third-layer hafnium oxide films having greater barrier height and the second-layer hafnium oxide film having a higher dielectric constant, thereby attaining a capacitor having less leakage current and large capacity.

Memory function for powered running boards

A control mechanism for a powered running board on an automotive vehicle, such as a sport utility vehicle, utilizes the memory function of the vehicle to store therein established operating positions for the running board. The user or occupant of the vehicle can manually position the powered running board to a convenient operating position within a range of available operating positions on the vehicle. By storing the selected position of the running board in the memory function of the vehicle, the control mechanism can return to that same operating height each time the occupant seeks to use the running board for entry or exit of the vehicle. The control mechanism is operable with different configurations of running boards and with different power devices for effecting the movement of the running board.
