970 results about "Standby system" patented technology

Standby is a computer system or component mode in which a system is kept readily available in case an unexpected event occurs. A system may be on standby in case of failure, shortage or other similar events.

Computer system and availability method thereof

High availability computer system and fault correction method. If a fault occurs in the current-system physical device allocated to the current-system virtual device of the virtual server, the virtualization mechanism of the physical server configures, for the standby-system virtual device of the virtual server, the standby-system physical device, as a physical device which is used at a high priority, and the virtualization mechanism distributes the request issued from the standby-system virtual device of another virtual server to a standby-system physical device, but, when such a standby-system physical device does not exist, the virtualization mechanism distributes the request to a standby-system physical device configured for high priority usage.

Cluster system and failover method for cluster system

Provided is a failover method for a cluster system for realizing smooth failover of the guest OS's, even when there are many guest OS's, while reducing consumption of computer resources of a server. Smooth failover is realized by preventing competition during failover even when the number of guest OS's is increased. In a cluster configuration in which a slave / master cluster program is operated in a guest OS / host OS, the master cluster program (510) collects and transmits heartbeats of the slave cluster program, thereby realizing failure monitoring through the certain amount of heartbeats without depending on the number of guest OS's. Further, when the master cluster program monitors failures of the slave cluster program of its own computer to find a normal operation of the guest OS, the amount of communication through heartbeats is reduced by eliminating the necessity of communication to a standby system slave cluster program.

Computer resource distribution method based on prediction

A resource distribution method capable of lending surplus resources among a plurality of services and reducing the maintenance cost of the surplus resources is provided. Computer resources in the standby system have a dead standby state in which at least an application is not installed. A plurality of services or a plurality of users share the computer resources in the standby system. As a result, improvement of the utilization factor of idle computer resources and server integration are implemented, and the cost required to maintain the computer resources is reduced. Furthermore, load prediction is conducted as regards individual services by using past operation history. Idle computer resources secured from services having surplus and maintained are thrown in according to a result of the prediction.

Switch control method and apparatus in a system having a plurality of processors

In an information processing apparatus having a crossbar switch, registers are provided for logical division of a connection of the crossbar switch into a plurality of groups, in order to allow a system to change the group division configuration while the system is in an ordinary operation. As an application of this, in a hot standby system, when a fault occurs in an active partition and the active partition is replaced by a standby partition, the standby partition is allowed to include system resources used by the active partition such as CPU's and memories.

A device for providing flight condition information and a method of displaying such information. In one form, the device functions as a backup system to provide flight condition information in the event of partial or complete inoperability of a primary flight instrument system, or to complement such primary flight instrument system. Numerous sensors collect flight data, which can pass through devices to convert and manipulate the data to produce flight condition information that can be displayed in such a way as to reduce a pilot's cognitive workload. The information displayed includes at least flight path angle, lateral acceleration, and turn rate. Additional information that may be displayed includes heading information, as well as information relating to airspeed and altitude, among others. In another form, the device can be part of either a primary or backup system.

Sump pump with emergency backup system

A flood control system for use in a structure having a basement floor below ground level is provided. The flood control system comprises a sump, a main pump positioned in the sump, and a secondary pump positioned in the sum. The secondary pump is raised relative to the main pump to a predetermined elevation. The main pump is energized when a height of water within the sump is at a first level. The secondary pump is energized when a height of water within the sump reaches a second, higher level and is de-energized when a height of water within the sump drops to a third level. A cover is releasably mounted to the sump. The cover includes a first section for covering the main pump and a separate second section for covering the secondary pump. At least one of the first and second sections is hingedly mounted to the sump. A controller is operatively connected to the main pump and the secondary pump. The controller is responsive to water level within the sump to selectively energize at least one of the main pump and the secondary pump.

Signaling safety system

Even if any failure occurs in radio in the regular safety, confirmation of train existence on-rail and safety control can be continued by a backup system in the substitutive safety. To a signaling safety system that by ground-train communication by radio in the regular safety using a base station 102 and an antenna 107, the position of each of cars 100 is notified to a ground train controller 101 as information of existence on-rail from the cars 100 and on the basis of the information of existence on-rail, information of speed restriction is transmitted from the controller 101 to each of the cars 100, a substitutive safety system that when each of the cars 100 approaches its specific range, by communication between ground communication devices 103 and 104 and an on-train communication device which are installed so as to communicate with each other, car information from each of the cars 100 can be received by the controller is newly added. Generally, concurrently with the regular safety, by the substitutive safety system, the existence on-rail of each of the cars 100 is controlled for each new block section. However, when the ground-train communication by radio cannot be used in this state, the controller 101 switches the operation by the regular safety to the operation by the substitutive safety and the train control and safety control by the substitutive safety system can be continued.

Automated, self-contained, home sewage treatment system

A small and cost effective sewage treatment system intended for unattended use in individual homes, small industries or businesses in locations where a central sewage treatment plant is not available. The sewage treatment system comprises a conventional septic tank which drains into a smaller aerated holding tank, a pump to transfer effluent from the holding tank into a disinfecting chamber, a regenerative heat exchanger used to raise the temperature of the effluent while being aerated in the holding tank, means for pumping the effluent at a controlled rate through a microwave field, and a conventional drain field used to release the disinfected water into the surrounding soil. Operation of this system is fully regulated by a micro-controller, thereby eliminating the need for human intervention during normal use. This invention also incorporates electronic means for detecting various fault conditions which may impede effective disinfection, means for diagnosing what part of the system is at fault, means for reporting the fault and diagnose to a central municipal location via a telephone or transponder system, an emergency battery backup system, and means for reverting system operation to that of a conventional septic tank and drain field system is case of a total power failure (both A / C and DIC) or water pump failure. Conventional household alternating current or a battery recharged via a wind generator or solar cells may power the sewage treatment system.

Load balancing system based on content

InactiveCN101605092ASolve the problem of inconsistencySave resourcesData switching networksData synchronizationThe Internet
The invention relates to a load balancing system based on content, comprising load balancing based on content, inspection of content and health status of a backend server, self high availability of load balancing and load balancing algorithm thereof, wherein, the load balancing based on content refers to that a system works in the seventh layer of a seven-layer model of an OSI Internet, and belongs to the load balancing of an application layer; the inspection of content and health status of a backend server is provided with an inspection module of system resources to inspect the content and the health status of the backend server in real time; in order to avoid single-point failures of the load balancing system, the load balancing system uses dual-system configuration to realize the high availability; a main system and a standby system keep the consistency of connection information at client by data synchronization. When a system is in the failure status, a standby load balancing system automatically takes over services. The system of the invention changes the goofy load balancing mode of the traditional IP layer load balancing, and thus, the load hit rate can be effectively increased. The load balancing system does not require that the backend server stores the same content, which largely saves server resources.
