Radio frequency technology heater for unconventional resources

ActiveUS20070187089A1Robust RFTReduce time needInsulationFluid removalSkin effectAC power
A system for heating at least a part of a subsurface hydro carbonaceous earth formation forms a borehole into or adjacent to the formation, places elongated coaxial inner and outer conductors into the borehole with the inner and outer conductors electrically connected to each other at a depth below the top of the formation, and connects an AC power source to at least the outer conductor to produce heat in at least one of the conductors. The AC output has a controlled frequency, and the outer conductor comprises a standard oil well component made of a ferromagnetic material that conducts current from the AC power source in only a surface region of the conductor due to the skin effect phenomenon. More heat is dissipated from portions of the conductor that is within the depth range of the formation than from other portions of the conductor. The inner conductor may optionally be a standard tubular oil well component made of a ferromagnetic material that conducts current from the AC power source in only a surface region of the conductor due to the skin effect phenomenon.

Access panel

An access panel for providing access to cables, services or the like through an opening in a floor having a floor covering, is disclosed. The access panel includes a floor frame (10) located in the opening and a lid (100) supported on the frame (10). The frame (10) has a support flange (26) extending around its periphery which extends between the floor covering and the floor deck. The flange (26) provides a ramped edge tapered substantially uniformly over a distance of between 10 and 20 times the maximum thickness of the flange (26). The outermost part of the flange (26) is typically formed from a flexible polymeric material. A rib (20) extends around an aperture in the frame (10) and the height of the rib (20) is lower than the load bearing surface of the floor. The hinge (24, 120) is generally square and defines a pivot surface which extends parallel to and is spaced inwardly from an inner edge of the frame (10). A lid (100) for closing the aperture defines a bearing surface (120) which is adapted to slidably engage on the pivot surface (24) to allow the lid (100) to bear and pivot about the pivot surface (24). The lid (100) includes hatches (104, 106) which are moveable between an open position in which there is an aperture in the lid (100) through which cable services may extend and a closed position in which there is no aperture. Locking means (124, 126) are provided between the hatch (104, 106) and the frame (10) to lock the hatch (104, 106) in place in both the open and closed positions.

Gel-filled seismic streamer cable

A gel-filled seismic streamer containing a hydroplane housing which isolates a hydrophone element from shear waves and mechanical forces but sensitive to pressure waves. In one embodiment, the gel-filled streamers contains a hydrophone housing with an air pocket at each end for isolating a pressure sensitive hydrophone element from mechanical noise generated by cable movement during seismic data acquisition operations. The hydrophone housing further provides a protective case to isolate a pressure-sensitive hydrophone element from shear waves. An inlet formed in the protective hydrophone housing enables pressure waves to be communicated to the pressure sensitive hydrophone element inside of the housing. In one embodiment, the pressure sensitive hydrophone element is a hollow gel-filled cylinder that expands radially outward into a second air gap formed in the housing. A protective case is also provided to isolate the hydrophone housing from shear waves. An alternative hydrophone housing for deployment inside of a streamer is also disclosed which fixably positions a positioning hydrophone or seismic hydrophone within the housing using rubber supports.

Compact axial-flow magnetic-levitation artificial heart pump

The invention provides a compact axial-flow magnetic-levitation artificial heart pump, in particular to an artificial heart pump characterized in that two permanent magnet bearings and a mix of radial magnetic bearing suspension, and the radial magnetic bearing and a permanent magnet motor share a stator and a rotor. The compact axial-flow magnetic-levitation artificial heart pump has the structure that the compact axial-flow magnetic-levitation artificial heart pump comprises a stator assembly, a rotor assembly, a front guidance impeller and a rear guidance impeller; a taper-shaped or axial permanent magnet bearing is respectively formed by a first permanent magnet (9) and a right permanent magnet ring (14) as well as a second permanent magnet (19) and a left permanent magnet ring (18) to realize the purpose that the rotor axially supports in a suspension mode; a torque coil (5) and a suspension coil (7) are respectively wound on a motor stator (6); and with a certain decoupling control algorithm, the motor stator not only generates torque force but also generates radial suspension support force. In the compact axial-flow magnetic-levitation artificial heart pump, the rotor is supported by permanent magnetic force and electromagnetic force, and the compact axial-flow magnetic-levitation artificial heart pump has the advantages of small damage on blood, less radiation, compact structure and the like, is easy to transplant, is suitable for patients suffering from cardiac function failure, heart diseases and the like and can be used for ventricular assisting for a long time or a short time.

A torso support portion and a pair of thigh support portions are each formed of an outer layer of hard relatively stiff molded plastic material of limited flexibility and an inner layer of relatively soft cushioning material for distributing the weight of a patient over a large area. The torso support portion may comprise a rear panel adjustable secured between two body panels. Tightening straps serve to tighten the torso support portion about a patient with the parts of the torso support portion adjacent the front opposite free sides of the two body panels overlapping one another in operative position. A pair of tightening straps serve to tighten each of the thigh support portions about the thighs of a patient with the free sides of each thigh support portion spaced a substantial distance from one another in operative position. Four adjustable suspension straps are provided for suspending the torso support portion and provide a quick-release feature. Two adjustable groin straps are provided for stabilizing the torso support portion. Each of the thigh support portions is connected to the torso support portion in depending relationship therefrom by adjustable connecting straps. One of the thigh support portions is provided with a channel extending from the top edge to the bottom edge thereof portion for receiving a catheter. The thigh support portions are provided with outwardly facing fastening portions for fastening the thigh support portions to a powered gait orthosis device.
