According to a cultivating method of a new tomato variety 'Yunxia No. 2', based on a fact that a Yunnan local old variety 'Da pingding' is used as a female parent, an astaxanthin production project tomato 'Xiahong No. 1' is used as a male parent, hybridization is performed, leaf astaxanthin is extracted with acetone, and the content of the leaf astaxanthin is detected by a UPLC method. The 'Yunxia No. 2' combines the main excellent properties of the female parent and the main excellent properties of the male parent, and is good in fruit quality and high in astaxanthin yield of leaves. The new tomato variety 'Yunxia No. 2' has the main characteristics that plants are in a determinate growth type, the height of the plants is about 130cm, and the plants are dark red and grow vigorously; stalks are yellowish green to light brown, and the branching capacity is high; the new tomato variety 'Yunxia No. 2' has common leaf types, leafstalks are yellowish green to dark red, leaves are dark red, and the average content of dry substances namely the astaxanthin reaches 2.27mg / g; calyxes are dark red, radial corollas are orange to tangerine, anthers are orange to red, and stigmas and persistent fruitlets are red brown; and fruits are bright red, fruit shoulders are claret and circular to oblate, the fruit shape index is 0.67-0.79, fruit surfaces are smooth, the gloss is bright, the pulp is thick and pink, placenta jelly is red, 5-7 ventricles exist, the hardness is moderate, the average weight of a single fruit is 150g, and the weight of the largest single fruit can reach 350g.
