RF-energy modulation system through dynamic coil detuning

An RF-energy modulation system dynamically adjusts tuned receiving circuits within a plurality of slave devices, thereby regulating the level of power reception in each slave device. The slave devices receive power from a single master device, through coupling of a primary antenna in the master device with a secondary antenna in each slave device. The amount of the power received by each slave device is a function of the antenna separation distance, and is thus different at each slave device location. The RF-energy modulation system monitors the power requirements of the slave device within which the modulation system is included, and modulates the tuning of the secondary antenna to maintain the proper power reception level. Advantageously, such modulation controls the power reception by the slave device, versus dissipating energy already received by the slave device. In a preferred embodiment, the RF-energy modulation system controls the power received by a multiplicity of microstimulators implanted in a single patient.

The invention discloses a proton beam flow intensity modulation method and system. In a proton therapy device based on a cyclotron, an energy selection module makes the transmission efficiency of the proton beam with different energies very different, but a treatment end requires the proton beam to maintain a stable flow intensity range. The method of the invention firstly obtains the beam loss and the transmission efficiency of the proton beam with different energies in an energy reduction process after the energy modulation of the proton beam, and obtains a flow intensity ratio from low energy to high energy. According to the clinical requirements of the proton beam flow intensity dynamic ratio, after different energy points which have been subjected to energy modulation undergo expansion and collimation, the flow intensity modulation within a design proportional region is completed and the flow ratio can be controlled within a certain value. The method and the system of the invention are based on the Monte Carlo calculation method and the beam optics. The design method is reliable, and the realization scheme has a small space requirement, which is important for maintaining the beam stability in the proton therapy process.

Systems and methods for stabilization of droplet-plasma interaction via laser energy modulation

In a laser produced plasma (LPP) extreme ultraviolet (EUV) system, a droplet is irradiated by a laser pulse to produce a plasma in a chamber. This generates forces that cause the plasma to destabilize and subsequent droplets to have their flight trajectory and speed altered as they approach the plasma. This destabilization is detectable from oscillations in the amount of EUV energy generated. To reduce the oscillations by stabilizing the plasma and travel of the droplets, a proportional-integral (PI) controller algorithm is used to modify an energy of subsequent laser pulses based on the EUV energy generated in the chamber. By modifying the energy of subsequent laser pulses, the plasma stabilizes, which reduces effects on droplet flight and stabilizes the amount of EUV energy generated, allowing the plasma chamber to operate for longer intervals and to lower the amount of reserve power maintained by a laser source.
