Glenoid augment and associated method

A augmented glenoid implant assembly for use in performing shoulder arthroplasty is provided. The augmented glenoid implant assembly is used for cooperation with the glenoid fossa of a scapula. The implant assembly includes a first component for attachment to the scapula. The first component defines a support surface for cooperation with the glenoid fossa, a second surface positioned adjacent a buttress formed in the glenoid fossa and an assembly surface. The implant assembly also includes a second component removably secured to the first component. The second component includes an assembly face of the second component. The assembly surface of the second component is in close approximation to the assembly surface of the first component. The second component further includes an articulating surface opposed to the assembly surface.

Graft ligament anchor and method for attaching a graft ligament to a bone

A graft ligament anchor comprises a graft ligament engagement member disposed in an opening in a bone, the graft ligament engagement member being arranged to receive a graft ligament alongside the engagement member, and a locking member for disposition in the opening, and at least in part engageable with the graft ligament engagement member. Movement of the locking member in the opening causes the locking member to urge the engagement member, and the graft ligament therewith, toward a wall of the opening, to secure the graft ligament to the wall of the opening. A method for attaching a graft ligament to a bone comprises providing an opening in the bone, inserting the graft ligament and a graft ligament engagement member in the opening, with the graft ligament disposed alongside a first portion of the engagement member, and inserting a locking member in the bone alongside a second portion of the engagement member, the locking member being separated from the graft ligament by the graft ligament engagement member. The method further comprises moving the locking member to cause the locking member to engage the graft ligament engagement member to urge the graft ligament engagement member, and the graft ligament therewith, toward a wall of the opening to secure the graft ligament to the wall of the opening.

System and a method for determining one or more parameters of a source of a potential-energy field

A sensor system for determining parameters of a source of a potential-energy field. The system has a sensor array for sensing a property of the potential-energy field generated by the source, with a first sensor at a first position and a second sensor at a second position. The first and second sensor each have a sensor output for outputting a sensor signal representing the sensed property. A signal processor can determine the sensed property as a function of the position of the at least one first sensor and the at least one second sensor. A correlator is connected to the signal processor and arranged to correlate the determined result to a predetermined result derived for a template source positioned at a predetermined position and / or orientation with respect to the sensor array. A calculator is connected to the correlator. The calculator can determine the parameter from the correlation result.

Optical Device And Method For Providing Improved Depth Of Field And Resolution Modes

An optical device, generally a camera head connected to an endoscope, provides multiple modes of operation, producing images with varying depth of field and / or resolution characteristics. Light from the endoscope passes through a variable aperture and a beam splitter and is directed to two or more independent image sensors. The image sensors may be moved, relative to each other, along their optical paths. An image processor combines the collected images into a resultant image. Adjustment of the relative positions of the image sensor and / or the diameter of the variable aperture permits the selection of optical properties desired, with a larger depth of field, and / or higher resolution than possible with a conventional system. Images may be collected through multiple acquisition periods, and a further enhanced image may be generated therefrom. The camera head may automatically make adjustments based on identifiers of the optical configuration of the attached endoscope.
