Aerogel loaded tile composite material

A composite material having a preferably rigid preformed ceramic fiber matrix at least partially impregnated with an aerogel and forming a multi-layered material. The matrix is impregnated with an aerogel material which forms a layer having a total thickness r where r is less than t or equal to t, where t is the thickness of the matrix, thus forming a single or multilayered composite material. The material may be formed with numerous layers s1, s2, S3, . . . snn where r=SIGMAsn and r is less than or equal to t. Thus, a multi-layered material is formed. Alternatively, the aerogel / fiber matrix composite has channels devoid of aerogel.

Porous catheter balloon and method of making same

A porous balloon or other catheter structure is formed by creating specific size pores for delivering an agent to a body lumen. The pores can be created by passing matter or energy through the surface of the catheter structure, as by a laser or a projectile. In the case of a laser, the catheter structure can be reversed so that the inner surface becomes the outer surface to convert diverging pores into converging pores. In the case of projectiles, a pore size can be achieved by selecting an appropriate size and shaped projectile to obtain the desired characteristic. Alternatively, a material to make the catheter structure can include impurities that can be removed once the catheter structure is set, leaving pores where the material formed around the impurities.

Topical Dermal Formulations and Methods of Personalized Treatment of Skin

Personalized skin-specific topical formulations containing conditioned medium obtained from cultures of fibroblasts has been developed. Unlike other topical formulations, these formulations are specific for the recipient-skin type specific, and conditioned medium is obtained from a subject with desired skin characteristics. For example, since African American skin is known to wrinkle less and later than Caucasian skin, conditioned medium may be obtained from African American skin for application to pale skin. In another embodiment, the fibroblasts are obtained from young skin for administration to older skin. In still another embodiment, the fibroblasts are obtained from skin that does not suffer from acne or discoloration, for application to skin that is prone to acne or discoloration. Examples of skin donor selection criteria include delayed wrinkling, small pores, resistance to sunburn, resistance to acne, uniform coloration or lack of blotching or age spots and good moisture retention.

Compact backwashable water filter system

A water filter system (10) for home use, includes a valve (34) that passes pressured water from a municipal water supply (30) though the inlet (20) of a passage (14) containing bidirectional filter elements (16) so the water has to pass though the filter elements to reach an outlet (22) that leads to a faucet (24). A water pressuring device (52) such as one that includes a bladder (56), has one side that faces a water outlet storage region (54) and an opposite side that faces a pressing apparatus such as compressed air (64). At intervals such as every 24 hours at 3:00 a.m., a timer (70) operates the control valve to connect the inlet (20) to a drain (50) instead of to the municipal water supply, for a period such as 20 seconds. Then, water backflushes though the bidirectional filter elements to a drain, to clean the filter elements. An ultraviolet light (104) at the outlet storage region kills bacteria to prevent bacteria buildup in the outlet region.

Debris bagger

A mobile yard Debris Bagger attached to a common vacuum shredder to bag shredded yard debris directly to a common plastic or paper disposal bag. The disposal bag is mounted to a tubular adapter ring. The tubular adapter ring is installed in the larger end of the tapered fifter bag. A clamp ring holds the bags onto the tubular adapter ring. The smaller end of the tapered filter bag is attached to the outlet of the vacuum shredder. The shredded debris flows through the filter bag to the disposal bag on the tubular adapter ring. The filter bag acts as an air vent and pathway to deposit the debris into the disposal bag. The bag protector attached to the bottom of the tubular adapter ring keeps the disposal bag from being damaged as the bagger is pulled behind the user.

Method for preparing polymer mould-free stereostructure foamed product from supercritical fluid

ActiveUS20210332210A1Shortening molding cycleControllable shapePolymer sciencePolymer chemistry
A method for preparing a polymer mould-free stereostructure foamed product from supercritical fluid, containing a supercritical fluid delivery system, a stereoscopic foaming system and a preheating system, and has the following steps: performing pressure molding on a polymer material to obtain a foaming preform, then preheating the foaming preform in the preheating system, delivering the foaming preform to the stereoscopic foaming system after a temperature rises to a preheating temperature, introducing the supercritical fluid, and decompressing after the supercritical fluid is swelled and diffused to the polymer. The polymer is swelled using high-temperature medium-pressure supercritical fluid by utilizing a one-step method in a stereoscopic foaming tank and then subjected to free mould-free stereoscopic pressure-relief foam molding, so as to obtain a polymer microcellular foamed product with controllable product shape, size precision, pore fineness and product density.

Heated volatile dispensing device with dye-based use-up indicator

Heated volatile dispensers are disclosed that are provided with automated dye-based use-up indicators. Multiple migrate able dyes of different colors are positioned adjacent a porous substrate. Heating of the substrate, such as a slab impregnated with an insect repellent, both causes the impregnated chemical to dispense from the slab and the indicator dyes to migrate to one or more visible positions. One dye migrates to a visible position faster than a dye of a different color. Further heating may cause one or both dyes to change color at a visible position. The dye movement imparts information about the degree of use-up of the impregnating chemical.
