A versatile communications (comms) apparatus to provide a means to measure the audio (earphone) output of an electronic device (e.g. a music player in a smartphone), and/or to provide a means for wireless communications between a first electronic device (e.g. a smartphone) and a second electronic device (e.g. a hearing aid, pacemaker, etc). In some embodiments, the comms apparatus does not need power and in other embodiments, its power may be harvested from the first electronic device, or drawn from a battery that may be recharged by harvesting means or charged directly. The first electronic device typically includes an audio (earphone) output, a microphone input (with a voltage bias), a long-range communications transceiver (e.g. GSM), and where pertinent, a short-range transceiver (e.g. Bluetooth) and is internet enabled. In one embodiment, the comms apparatus provides a means where the audio output (earphone) of the electronic device is sampled by its microphone input, or by electronics in the comms apparatus. In other embodiments, the comms apparatus is an intermediary communications device between the first electronic device and the second electronic device. The communications therein may be simplex and/or duplex, via either the audio output (earphone), microphone input, short-range transceiver, and/or a combination thereof. The communications data (via the comms apparatus) may be transmitted elsewhere, including via the internet by means of the internet enabled electronic device.

The invention provides a vehicle constant speed cruise control method. The method comprises the following steps of: transmitting a constant speed cruise request to VCU by a driver by virtue of a button when a vehicle needs to perform constant speed cruise while driving, acquiring the current accelerator pedal position information, brake pedal position information, information whether complete vehicle is in an operating state or not and gear switch position information by VCU, and judging whether the constant speed cruise request transmitted to the VCU by the driver is valid, wherein the constant speed cruise is not performed if the current vehicle state does not meet the set conditions of the constant speed cruise; recording the current vehicle information as a target speed and a target rotating speed of the constant speed cruise by the VCU if the current vehicle state meets the set conditions of the constant speed cruise; and starting the constant speed cruise according to the acquired target speed by the VCU after the driver transmits a command of starting the constant speed cruise to the VCU by the button. According to the vehicle constant speed cruise control method provided by the invention, the fuel injection amount does not need to be accurately controlled like the traditional fuel vehicle, and the torque and rotating speed output of the motor can be accurately controlled by a torque or rotating speed request of the complete controller.

The system includes a mobile terminal of a network, speech processor for converting recorded speech into digital characters, and a vehicle-based interface. The mobile network terminal includes a microphone for recording a user's speech, and a terminal interface for communication with the vehicle-based interface. The vehicle-based interface is connected to a subsystem of the vehicle for controlling it based on messages received from the mobile network terminal. The mobile network terminal is adapted to process a string of digital characters derived from the user's speech into a message and to transmit said message to the vehicle-based interface.

Floating point stack manipulation using a register map and speculative top of stack values

A floating point unit capable of executing multiple instructions in a single clock cycle using a central window and a register map is disclosed. The floating point unit comprises: a plurality of translation units, a future file, a central window, a plurality of functional units, a result queue, and a plurality of physical registers. The floating point unit receives speculative instructions, decodes them, and then stores them in the central window. Speculative top of stack values are generated for each instruction during decoding. Top of stack relative operands are computed to physical registers using a register map. Register stack exchange operations are performed during decoding. Instructions are then stored in the central window, which selects the oldest stored instructions to be issued to each functional pipeline and issues them. Conversion units convert the instruction's operands to an internal format, and normalization units detect and normalize any denormal operands. Finally, the functional pipelines execute the instructions.
