A system and a method for medium wide band communications using impulse radio techniques. The method of transmitting medium wide band signals includes the steps of producing a sinusoidal signal and a train of preferably Gaussian shaped pulses. The method also includes the steps of multiplying the sinusoidal signal by the train of pulses to produce a train of sinusoidal bursts, and transmitting the train of sinusoidal bursts. The center frequency of the transmitted signal consisting of the train of sinusoidal bursts can be controlled by selecting an appropriate frequency of the sinusoidal signal. The bandwidth of the transmitted signal can be controlled by selecting an appropriate width of the pulses in the train of pulses. Information and/or coding modulation can be accomplished by adjusting the time position and/or phase of the sinusoidal bursts.

The operator station has a base platform, a shelter box mounted on the base platform for accommodating a human operator, and a computer installed inside the shelter box. The sensor pallet system has a base platform, a linear system mounted on the base platform, a rotational system mounted on the linear system, a mechanical arm attached to the rotational system, a sensor pod attached to the mechanical arm, and an electrical control system that provides power to the deployment system and controls movements of the sensor pallet system. In operation, the sensor pod can be retracted into a compact, stowing position, or extended out an opening in the aircraft for an unobstructed field of view. The deployment system optionally includes an apparatus and method for sealing the aircraft opening.

A high strength hydrogel having a constant swelling pressure upon implantation and thereafter is formed by preparing a hydrogel solution and then injecting the solution into a mold and cause to gel. A method and apparatus for providing real time updates of a database describing the features of individual terminals of a shared plan telecommunications group for communication sessions from and to that individual terminal. The characteristics (numbering plan, incoming and outgoing screening, alternate routing, types of service provided) of each of the individual stations of the shared communication plan are stored in a database accessed through a server. The database can be updated in real time by a designated one of the stations in the shared group. The designated station can also handle appeals for an exception to the restrictions stored in the database. The designated station can receive immediate or periodic information on activity of individual stations, or can receive such information on request. Advantageously, updates of the database can be implemented immediately and economically without requiring assistance of the personnel of the carrier, and the designated station can control communications for the group.

The invention provides a cold-resistant flame-retardant covering layer and a preparation method thereof. The cold-resistant flame-retardant covering layer is prepared from the raw materials of cis-polybutadiene rubber BR9000, natural rubber, chloroprene rubber, carbon black, antimony trioxide, chlorinated paraffin, ammonium polyphosphate, a flame-retardant softener, a vulcanizing agent, a vulcanization accelerator, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, stearic acid, and an anti-aging agent. Compared to prior arts, according to the invention, the cis-polybutadiene rubber BR9000, natural rubber and chloroprene rubber with the properties of high cold flow property and slow vitrification are adopted; and the flame-retardant softener is also adopted, such that rubber crosslink bond softness is improved, and rubber elasticity insufficient of a flame-retardant conveyor belt under dynamic conditions in an alpine region can be made up. Therefore, the flame-retardant covering layer has good flame-retardant property, and also has good mechanical properties under a low temperature condition.
