Damping force generation system and vehicle suspension system constructed by including the same

It is an object of the invention to improve the utility of an electromagnetic absorber system which is disposed in a suspension system of a vehicle and which generates a damping force by a generation force of a motor. The electromagnetic absorber system 18 is equipped with high-speed-motion responding means, thereby obviating an insufficiency of the damping force and a deterioration of the controllability in a high-speed stroke motion. More specifically, a hydraulic absorber 64 is provided in combination with the electromagnetic absorber system such that the hydraulic absorber 64 operates in the high-speed motion in which an electromotive force of the motor 68 exceeds a power source voltage Further, two motors having mutually different T-N characteristics are provided, and the two motors are selectively operated depending upon a stroke speed. Further, a variable resistor is interposed between the motor and the power source, and a resistance value of the variable resistor is increased in the high-speed motion to realize a decrease in a time constant of the motor, etc. Moreover, to cope with a large extent of unevenness of a road surface, an active stroke motion is performed by a drive force of the motor, thereby preventing the high-speed motion from being performed.

Method and apparatus for performing wireless diagnsotics and troubleshooting

A wireless diagnostics framework that is non-intrusive and stays out of the way of a user is presented. In the case of a failure, prescriptive guidance is provided and / or the framework possibly automatically fixes the problem. The framework includes a wireless diagnostics module that interacts with the operating system's diagnostics framework, helper classes, and wireless components to collect and log wireless diagnostic events and notifications, and issues queries and requests for active diagnostics. The helper classes perform diagnosis and troubleshooting fore their expertise areas based on the information provided by the wireless diagnostics module. The wireless diagnostics module includes an application program interface for communicating with helper classes, an event listener module that provides an event tracing application program interface to in-process modules, an active diagnostics module that issue active packet test requests to a media specific module, and query modules that issue information query requests to media specific modules.

Combustors and burners with high turndown ratio

Various smoke and combustible gas combustors (200, 300) are disclosed, and also disclosed are systems (100, 200) combining gas combustor with inventive burner. Such a burner (100 or 100') provides combustion of a particulate fuel such as sawdust, and many types of varying moisture content biomass fuels such as poultry litter. The combustors and burners exhibit a high turndown ratio ["TDR"].The smoke or combustible gas combustors (200, 300) are combined synergistically with such a burner (100, 100'), or combined with another suitable burner, so as to provide high temperature burner output gases to the combustor, which has coaxial inner and outer combustion chambers (352, 356) inlet tuyere(s) connected to the inner combustion chamber for introducing combustible smoke or other gases to be burned into the inner combustion chamber at one end thereof with cyclonic flow, and in which combustion air is mixed with combustible smoke or other gases to form a gas stream moving through the inner combustion chamber with cyclonic movement. A preheat tube (331) within the combustible gas heating chamber receives heated exhaust gases from the burner, and communicates with the inner combustion chamber exit through a plurality of apertures (364) for controlled flow of said heated exhaust gases into the gas stream and so heating same by mixing the exhaust gases with the stream of air and combustible gases.

System for selecting data from a data store based on utility of the data

A method and corresponding equipment for selecting data objects from a set of data objects in a source data store according to a predetermined method for assigning utility for each of the data objects in the set of data objects. The predetermined method for assigning utility typically takes into account a plurality of factors, and provides weights for each, so that, for example, the utility assigned to a data object decreases in time, but is enhanced if the data object has not yet been viewed by a user or if the data object is marked to indicate that a follow-up action is required. The invention is of use for example as part of or in connection with a mobile phone messaging user agent that stores in the mobile phone only the higher utility data objects (messages) in a full set of data objects.

Light Output Device with Movable Lightguide System

The invention relates to a light-output device (1; 10; 30) controllable to provide different light-output functions. The light-output device comprises a light-source arrangement (12; 31) configured to emit light; and a light-guiding system (10; 32) arranged to receive the light and configured to guide the light to at least one light-output surface of the light-guiding system. The light-guiding system (10; 32) comprises at least a first light-guide (11b; 37) and a second light-guide (11a; 40, 41); and the light-guiding system (10; 32) is movable relative to the light-source arrangement (12; 31) between at least a first position where light output by the light-source arrangement is guided by the first light-guide (11b; 37) to provide a first light-output function, and a second position where light output by the light-source arrangement is guided by the second light-guide (11a; 40, 41) to provide a second light-out put function, different from the first light-output function. The present invention is based on the realization that different light-output functions conveniently and intuitively can be achieved by moving a light-guiding system comprising at least two light-guides relative to a stationary light-source arrangement. Hereby, different light-output functions can be achieved with a single stationary light-source arrangement.

Method for managing of denial of service attacks using bandwidth allocation technology

A method for managing attacks in a computer system is disclosed. The computer system is used in sending, receiving, or sending and receiving a plurality of packets, which include a plurality of administrative packets. The method includes determining whether a congestion of the administrative packets exists. Congestion of the administrative packets indicates that a potential attack exists. The method also includes discarding a portion of the plurality of administrative packets if it is declared that the congestion of the administrative packets exists. The portion of the plurality of packets is sufficient to ensure that a remaining portion of the plurality of packets transmitted is not more than a maximum administrative packet bandwidth limit and, if the plurality of administrative packets present a sufficient offered load, not less than a minimum administrative packet bandwidth guarantee.
