The invention provides a method and a device for estimating the distribution area of remaining oil close to a fault of an oil well. The method comprises the following steps: S1, carrying out the fine oil reservoir description of a plurality of fault blocks covered by a target zone, and building a plurality of typical geologic models representing the oil reservoir characteristics of the fault blocks of the target zone; S2, based on the geologic model, carrying out reservoir numerical simulation calculation by utilizing a reservoir numerical simulation means; S3, based on the numerical reservoir simulation calculation result, counting the remaining oil distribution area of the oil well close to the fault when the water content of the oil well reaches a threshold value, wherein the oil well is the fault block oil reservoir ultra-high water content stage oil well; and S4, according to the geologic model established in the step S1 and the remaining oil distribution area obtained in the step S3, establishing a remaining oil distribution area estimation model. The method and the device solve the problem of quantitative estimation of the residual oil distribution area close to the fault of the oil well in the ultrahigh water-cut period of the fault block oil reservoir; and the purpose of rapidly and quantitatively estimating the remaining oil distribution area of the oil well close to the fault in the ultrahigh water cut period of the fault block oil reservoir is achieved.
