Single Axis Solar Tracking System

A solar tracking system with a torque tube supporting solar panels. Columns support the system and have bearings for rotation of the torque tube. A drive is coupled to the torque tube and is driven by a gearbox, such as a worm gear assembly, for rotating the array of solar panels to follow the sun's diurnal motion. The array can rotate in an opposite direction, or backtrack, to prevent shadowing from one module row to another. Multiple gearboxes can be mechanically linked by drive shafts and driven by a single motor. The drive shafts may incorporate universal joints for uneven terrain or staggered configurations. Harmonic dampers can be affixed to the solar panels to decouple wind forces which allows the use of larger solar panels.

Method and apparatus for communication network cluster formation and transmission of node link status messages with reduced protocol overhead traffic

The present invention facilitates cluster formation within a communications network by utilizing network topology information to designate network nodes that are crucial for relaying traffic as cluster head nodes, while remaining network nodes are designated as member nodes. A beacon packet transmission rate of a network node or the interval between successive beacon packet transmissions by that node is adjusted by the present invention to facilitate cluster formation independent of network size and varying initial start times of network nodes. In addition, the present invention utilizes the above described cluster formation technique to form a three tier architecture for transmission or flooding of routing information from head node databases throughout the network. The cluster formation technique is applied to cluster head nodes to form an additional network tier of super nodes that distribute routing information, while cluster head nodes route network data traffic. The databases of cluster head nodes are examined subsequent to flooding of head node database information by super nodes, where data missing from a head node database is requested from a corresponding super node, thereby eliminating transmissions of acknowledgment messages.

Directional flooding method in wireless sensor network

The present invention relates to a directional flooding method in a wireless sensor network. Transfer of a packet between respective sensor nodes and a sink node in a wireless sensor network is made with the directivity. To this end, when the packet is transmitted from the sensor nodes to the sink node, only the sensor nodes having a minimum hop count for the sink node are involved in transmission of the packet. Meanwhile, if the packet is sent from the sink node to the sensor nodes within a given destination area, after the packet reaches a corresponding destination area, only sensor nodes located within the destination area transmit the packet. The present invention has an effect that it can improve energy consumed on average and a total number of packets transmitted when transmitting the packets in a wireless sensor network compared to a conventional simple flooding method.

Data processing environment with methods providing contemporaneous synchronization of two or more clients

A synchronization system providing multi-client synchronization is described. By storing the data that is actually being synchronized (i.e., storing the actual physical body of a memo, for instance) inside an extra database, “Grand Unification Database” (GUD), (or by specially-designated client data set) under control of a central or core synchronization engine, rather than transferring such data on a point-to-point basis, the system of the present invention provides a repository of information that is available at all times and does not require that any other synchronization client (e.g., PIM client or hand-held device) be connected. The GUD provides a super-set of the other client data sets. Therefore, if the user now includes an additional client, such as a server computer storing user information, the synchronization system has all the information necessary for synchronizing the new client, regardless of whether any of the other clients are currently available. The system can, therefore, correctly propagate information to any appropriate client without having to “go back” to (i.e., connect to) the original client from which that data originated.

The present invention describes a multi-component handpiece that is both economical and practical for surgical laser treatment. A disposable optical fiber is inserted into a reusable handpiece. The distal end of the optical fiber is protected by a micro-walled protective tube to prevent the disposable fiber from chipping before and during insertion into the handpiece. Once the optical fiber is protected, it is inserted into the handpiece by threading the optical fiber through the cap, body, and cannula of the handpiece until the fiber extends slightly beyond the distal end of the needle. The micro-walled protective tube is removed from the end of the optical fiber, the optical fiber is positioned, and the cap is tightened. The cap and body of the handpiece cooperate to produce a tight friction fit that prevents longitudinal movement of the optical fiber during laser therapy. The tight friction fit holds the optical fiber in place without the use of adhesives, which allows for facilitated removal of the disposable fiber after use. Furthermore, a disposable fiber allows for convenient resterilization of the handpiece to eliminate the transmission of disease from one patient to the next without having to dispose of the entire handpiece following every laser procedure.

Non-fire-worker-driven two-stage compressing releasing mechanism

The invention provides a non-fire-worker-driven two-stage compressing releasing mechanism. Pretightening force applied to the mechanism can be accurately measured by means of strain gages; in the compressing state, a separating cap is limited by upper balls; a releasing pin is clamped by lower balls; the positions of the upper balls are determined by the separating cap, an upper retainer and the releasing pin; the positions of the lower balls are determined by the releasing pin, a sliding block and a lower retainer; and the sliding block is compressed by an anti-impact spring. During releasing, a non-fire-worker-driven element is powered on to start working to drive the sliding block to upwards move, after the sliding block upwards moves by a certain distance, the lower balls enter a groove of the sliding block, the releasing pin is unclamped and moves downwards under the effect of a driving spring, then the upper balls are unrestrained and fall into a groove of the releasing pin, theseparating cap is separated, and thus releasing is completed. In this mechanism, a plurality of spherical pairs are adopted, the influence of moment transferring on the part cooperation relationship and the releasing reliability is avoided, and meanwhile the mounting accuracy requirement is reduced; and control is convenient, vibration resistance is high, the borne load is large, and reliability is high.
