Antenna coupling systems and methods for transmitters

Multiple radio channel frequency signals that are modulated with respective information modulation are transmitted from a common antenna at multiple radio frequencies. Multiple modulators are provided, a respective one of which corresponds to a respective one of the radio channel frequencies. Each modulator generates at least one constant amplitude, phase modulated drive signal at the corresponding radio channel frequency from the respective information modulation, such that the at least one constant amplitude, phase modulated drive signal corresponds to the information modulation for the corresponding radio frequency. At least one saturated power amplifier is provided for each of the at least one constant amplitude, phase modulated drive signals. A respective saturated power amplifier is responsive to the corresponding constant amplitude, phase modulated drive signal, to produce a corresponding amplified output signal at an output thereof. A coupling network connects the outputs of the saturated power amplifiers in series, to produce a combined signal that is applied to the common antenna, such that the common antenna radiates the radio channel frequency signals that are modulated with the respective information modulation. In first embodiments, the at least one constant amplitude, phase modulated drive signal is a single constant envelope modulation drive signal, wherein the information modulation is a constant envelope information modulation. In other embodiments, at least two constant amplitude phase modulated drive signals are provided at the corresponding radio channel frequency, such that the at least two constant amplitude, phase modulated drive signals correspond to the information modulation for the corresponding radio frequency.

Ultrasound patient interface device

An ultrasound coupling device for acoustically coupling an ultrasound transducer with a patient's body comprises a fluid chamber having an ultrasound transducer interface for placing an ultrasound transducer in contact with water within said fluid chamber. The coupling device also has a patient interface comprising a water permeable membrane. The membrane has an internal membrane surface which is in contact with the water in the water tank and an external membrane surface can be placed in contact with the patient's body. The membrane is specially designed to allow water from inside the water tank to slowly permeate or ā€œleakā€ to the external membrane surface while such surface is in contact or placed in very close proximity to the patient's skin. The slow permeation rate maintains the external membrane surface wet and free of air bubbles during a procedure which can take several hours. At the same time, the slow rate of permeation does not cause any water spillage around the patient.

Method and device for production, extraction and delivery of mist with ultrafine droplets

The present invention provides a method and device for production, extraction and delivery of an aerosol mist with ultrafine droplets. A high frequency wave generating device or other process generates very small particles or droplets from a reservoir of liquid or material to be atomized. A helical flow of a carrier gas medium such as air is directed into a container and creates a high throughput aerosol of air and fine droplets. The aerosol is delivered through a suitable outlet such as by deflecting the aerosol upwards and providing a tube centrally situated with respect to the helical flow such that the aerosol will discharge through the tube in high quantity of throughput and high quality of stable aerosol of very fine mist droplets. The methods described utilize in-situ extraction of fine mist droplets using helical flow behavior as opposed to forced convection ejection of mist or inertial separation of droplets by separators.

System and method for satellite based controlled ALOHA

A system and method for satellite based controlled ALOHA is provided. The system and method configure VSATs so that they accept guidance from a centralized and / or distributed system controller to determine when, where, and / or on what portion of a satellite resource to attempt to access a channel. The system and method take advantage of traffic patterns to maximize efficiency by utilizing a centralized and / or distributed control to determine which VSATs are and are not currently active, and to allocate to a portion of the inbound channel to the active VSATs and a portion of the inbound channel to the inactive VSATs. In a distributed approach, each VSAT decides for itself whether it captures a certain part of the inbound resource or not. This decision can be made based on previous transmissions that went through the part of the inbound intended to be captured.

Voltage control circuit and method for supplying an electrical component with a supply voltage

A voltage control circuit is proposed, having an input for supplying a voltage control signal and having an output for production of a supply voltage. The voltage control circuit contains a control loop with a DC / DC converter arranged between a first node and a second node. The first node is designed to emit the difference between signals which are applied on the input side. The second feed node is designed to emit the sum of the applied signals. The first and the second feed nodes provide two point modulation with the DC / DC converter within the control loop of the voltage control circuit. In this case, a signal which is applied on the input side is split into a radio frequency component and a low frequency component. The processing of the low frequency component in the DC / DC converter reduces the requirements for the switching frequencies for the DC / DC converter, increases the efficiency of the voltage control circuit, and reduces the power losses.

Scalable wavelength shifted laser source and method

A laser array architecture scalable to very high powers by fiber amplifiers, but in which the output wavelength is selectable, and not restricted by the wavelengths usually inherent in the choice of fiber materials. A pump beam at a first frequency is amplified in the fiber amplifier array and is mixed with a secondary beam at a second frequency to yield a frequency difference signal from each of an array of optical parametric amplifiers. A phase detection and correction system maintains the array of outputs from the amplifiers in phase coherency, resulting in a high power output at the desired wavelength. A degenerate form of the architecture is disclosed in an alternate embodiment, and a third embodiment employs dual wavelength fiber amplifiers to obtain an output at a desired difference frequency.
