Methods and systems for improved drilling operations using real-time and historical drilling data

Methods and systems are described for improved drilling operations through the use of real-time drilling data to predict bit wear, lithology, pore pressure, a rotating friction coefficient, permeability, and cost in real-time and to adjust drilling parameters in real-time based on the predictions. The real-time lithology prediction is made by processing the real-time drilling data through a multilayer neural network. The real-time bit wear prediction is made by using the real-time drilling data to predict a bit efficiency factor and to detect changes in the bit efficiency factor over time. These predictions may be used to adjust drilling parameters in the drilling operation in real-time, subject to override by the operator. The methods and systems may also include determining various downhole hydraulics parameters and a rotary friction factor. Historical data may be used in combination with real-time data to provide expert system assistance and to identify safety concerns.

System for delivering and enabling interactivity with images

A system, including apparatuses, software and methods, is disclosed for capturing and delivering images as to which various interactive functions are enabled for a user. The images introduced to the system can come from any one of a variety of sources, including from a digital camera. A graphical user interface permits a user to customize a set of interactive functions to be enabled for a given set of images. The interactively enabled images can be delivered via a webpage to a user, for example, via email, the Internet or downloaded from a disk or from disk drive on a computer on which the webpage is stored. Each image is delivered to a user in its own layer of software, which permits complex sets of images of relatively high resolution to be delivered to users without any appreciable delay associated with the delivery or the need for the user to have additional software, such as a plug-in to receive images and enable interactive functions with respect to the images. Whenever an interactive function is being carried out, a viewer perceives only one image layer at a given time, but the currently viewable image layer can be changed rapidly, so that the user can perceive the illusion of motion, including virtual rotation of an object depicted in a set of images.

System and method for natural language processing and using ontological searches

A search engine is disclosed that utilizes natural language processing (NLP) techniques. The search engine utilizes meaning-based natural language processing using ontological semantics in analyzing the meaning of queries and the searched text. This system analyzes Web pages and queries. The NLP method produces equivalent meanings to a sequence of user initiated words, wherein relevance parsing of the original query produces a display of queries / questions as hot links to the next round of searching without additional typing by the user.

System for delivering and enabling interactivity with images

A system is disclosed for delivering and displaying images on web pages and enabling and implementing various interactive functions with respect to the images, so as to give a user the illusion that objects or scenes depicted in the images are rotating, being zoomed in on, changing color, being measured, or having certain areas of the objects or scenes highlighted with enlargement and/or text, among other things. Various methods of enabling and implementing the interactive functions are described, including enabling the interactive functions by displaying and hiding image layers by manipulating the width and height parameters of image layers or adjusting width and height styles associated with image layers and enabling the interactive functions by associating image layers either directly or indirectly via a grid with strips defined by styles. The system includes a graphical user interface (GUI) that a user can use to configure his or her own images for interactive functions, including an interface that invites a user to supply parameters corresponding to those necessary to enable and allow to be carried out the interactive functions and/or parameters corresponding to data about the images, for example, specifications for an object depicted in a set of images.

Process of making rare earth doped optical fibre

The present invention discloses a process for making rare earth (RE) doped optical fibre by using RE oxide coated silica nanoparticles as the precursor materia, more particularly the method of the present invention involves preparation of stable dispersions (sol) of RE oxide coated silica nanoparticles at ambient temperature and applying a thin coating on the inner surface of silica glass tube following dip coating technique or any other conventional methods, of the said silica sol containing suitable dopants selected from Ge, Al, P, etc., the coated tubes were further processed into optical preforms by following MCVD technique and fiberised in desired configuration, the novelty lies in eliminating the step of the formation of porous soot layer at high temperature by CVD process inside a fused silica glass tube for formation of the core and also in the elemination of the incorporation of the rare earth ions into the porous soot layer following the solution doping technique or other conventional methods, the direct addition of RE oxides in the sol eliminates the formation of microcrystalites and clusters of rare earth ions and prevents change in composition including variation of RE concentration in the core which results in increase in the reproducibility and reliability of the process to a great extent, further the addition of Ge(OET)4 at ambient temperature in the silica sol reduces the quantity of GeCl4 which is required at high temperature to achieve the desired Numerical Aperture.

The invention relates to a text classification method of a Chinese web page based on steam clustering, belonging to the technical field of internetwork data mining. The text classification method comprises the following steps of: acquiring a web page in real time; removing unprocessed labels in the format of the web page, and analyzing the characteristic information of texts of the web page; segmenting the content of the texts, using as ngram participles, and forming a plurality of word strings; computing the weight value of each word string; extracting the word string with a high weight value, and using the word string with the high weight value and the corresponding weight value thereof as characteristic vectors; computing the similarity of the characteristic vectors and characteristic information and a known class; computing obtained total similarity, and classifying the texts to the know class or establishing a new class; judging whether the know class is divided into two subclasses or not according to the number of characteristic items of the known class; and storing processed text records and the information of the known class. The text classification method sufficiently excavates the effective information of web page texts aiming at the characteristics of the web page texts and is incremental, fast, effective and more practical.

A multi-wire slurry-free wafer cutting apparatus along with a method for optimizing saw operation is disclosed that includes a cutting wire impregnated with a plurality of cutting particles wrapped multiple times around two or more wire guides to form a multi-wire web. A drive mechanism drives the web across an ingot at an optimum speed determined by setting a multi-wire web speed to an initial speed, detecting vibration of the web, identifying the web speed having a lowest vibration, and operating the drive mechanism at that speed as optimum. A cleansing fluid is applied to the multi-wire web that includes a major portion of water and a minor portion of surfactant which cleans the cutting wire and keeps the cut particles free of oxidation. One or more cleansing fluid applicators are configured to apply the cleansing fluid to the multi-wire web close to the ingot in a laminar flow.
