Hardware-based translating virtualization switch

Placing virtualization agents in the switches which comprise the SAN fabric. Higher level virtualization management functions are provided in an external management server. Conventional HBAs can be utilized in the hosts and storage units. In a first embodiment, a series of HBAs are provided in the switch unit. The HBAs connect to bridge chips and memory controllers to place the frame information in dedicated memory. Routine translation of known destinations is done by the HBA, based on a virtualization table provided by a virtualization CPU. If a frame is not in the table, it is provided to the dedicated RAM. Analysis and manipulation of the frame headers is then done by the CPU, with a new entry being made in the HBA table and the modified frames then redirected by the HBA into the fabric. This can be done in either a standalone switch environment or in combination with other switching components located in a director level switch. In an alternative embodiment, specialized hardware scans incoming frames and detects the virtualized frames which need to be redirected. The redirection is then handled by translation of the frame header information by hardware table-based logic and the translated frames are then returned to the fabric. Handling of frames not in the table and setup of hardware tables is done by an onboard CPU.

Pathfinding system

A computer system is arranged to automatically calculate a path along nodes in a virtual world. After the co-ordinates for the virtual world environment have been initially defined (40), including nodes along which a path may travel, the system automatically increases the density of nodes in the environment up to a desired density. New nodes are added between each pair of nodes which have line of sight to each other (44 to 47), dramatically increasing the number of available links and nodes. This is repeated until a sufficient density of nodes is reached and no more nodes are being added (48 and 49).

The present invention relates to a method of, and a system for, enhancing data security, which data is to be executed in an electronic device (101) comprising a secure execution environment (104) to which access is restricted. A basic idea of the present invention is that, at device boot, data in the form of e.g. program code is copied from permanent memory (112) to temporary memory (110). The integrity of this program code must be verified to ensure that the program code has not been altered during the transmission between the memories. Further, a new secret key is generated in the secure execution environment. This new secret key is used by a device processor (103) to encrypt the program code to be stored in the temporary memory in order to ensure that the program code is kept secret during transmission. The device processor thereafter writes the encrypted program code into the temporary memory.

Method and Apparatuses for Data Transfer within a Relay Enhanced Telecommunication Network

A method for scheduling a first user equipment, UE, with a first performance causing a first self interference of a relay system between a first access link extending between the relay system and the first UE and a relay link extending between the relay system and a base station, BS, and scheduling a second UE with a second performance causing a second self interference of the relay system between a second access link extending between the relay system and the second UE and the relay link extending between the relay system and the BS. Thereby, if the first self interference is larger than the second self interference, the first performance is smaller than the second performance. Alternatively, if the first self interference is smaller than the second self interference, the first performance is larger than the second performance.

High availability via data services

Application-level replication, the synchronization of data updates within a cluster of application servers, may be provided by having application servers themselves synchronize all updates to multiple redundant databases, precluding the need for database-level replication. This may be accomplished by first sending a set of database modifications requested by the transaction to a first database. Then a message may be placed in one or more message queues, the message indicating the objects inserted, updated, or deleted in the transaction. Then a commit command may be sent to the first database. The set of database modifications and a commit command may then be sent to a second database. This allows for transparent synchronization of the databases and quick recovery from a database failure, while imposing little performance or network overhead.

Storage system

A storage system according to the present invention has a plurality of flash packages equipped with a deduplication function. When a storage controller transmits a write data and a feature value of write data to a flash package, the flash package compares contents of the write data with data having a same feature value as the feature value of the write data. As a result of the comparison, if there is no corresponding data, the write data is stored in the flash memory, but if there is a corresponding data, the new data will not be stored. Thus, a greater number of data can be stored in the flash memory while preventing deterioration of performance.

Summer and winter mode operation of fuel cell stacks

A fuel cell subject to intermittent use may be operated in two distinct modes, a “summer” or a “winter” mode, depending on whether the cell is expected to be stored at below freezing temperatures or not. At steady state in summer mode, much of the cell interior may be fully saturated with water and thus may contain liquid water. While such conditions may be most desirable for performance reasons during operation, the presence of liquid water however may be detrimental when storing at below freezing temperatures. At steady state in winter mode, the cell interior is essentially sub-saturated throughout and liquid water is not present to form ice during storage. Winter mode operation allows for improved performance during startup, especially in automotive solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell stacks.

Controlled execution of a program used for a virtual machine on a portable data carrier

In a method for the controlled execution of a program (26), the program (26) being intended for a virtual machine (VM, VM′), on a portable data carrier, wherein the data carrier has a processor that executes at least a first and a second virtual machine (VM, VM′), the program (26) is executed both by the first and by the second virtual machine (VM, VM′). If, during execution of the program (26), a difference is found between the operating state of the first virtual machine (VM) and the operating state of the second virtual machine (VM′), execution of the program is aborted. A data carrier and a computer program product exhibit corresponding features. The invention provides a technique for the controlled execution of a program, which technique prevents security risks due to an attack or a malfunction of the data carrier.
