Selecting a target device in a device network

A device network to process signals has target devices, selecting devices that are movable relative to the target devices, and controllers. The controllers are in communication with the target devices and the selecting devices. Each of the selecting devices has a position sensor and an orientation sensor to provide spatial and angular co-ordinates of position and orientation when pointing to a target device and upon receiving a user input. Each of the selecting devices also has a signal processor to generate a control signal having the position and orientation data. This control signal is then transmitted by a transmitter, via a radio frequency channel, to a controller. Upon receiving the control signal, the controller determines whether, for example, a target device has been selected by a selecting device by comparison of the orientation data with a derived orientation based on the position data and the known position of the target devices.

Method and apparatus for displaying 3d images

The invention relates to a method for displaying three-dimensional images. In the method light beams (Le) are associated to several different screen points (P) of a screen (20). The light beams (Le) produce different views associated to different emission directions (E). The emission directions (E) are associated to the individual screen points (P). The light beams (Le) are generated by projecting light beams (Ld), according to the angle of the adjacent emitting directions. According to the invention, light beams (Le) without viewing direction information are generated, essentially simultaneously, with pixels (Cd) having different co-ordinates. These pixels (Cd) are pixels of a two-dimension display (50), and they are associated to different emitting directions (E) of the appropriate screen points (P). The light beams (Le) produced by the pixels (Cd) of the display (50) with different co-ordinates are imaged simultaneously in different deflection directions (D), as a function of the co-ordinates of the pixels (Cd) producing the light beams (Le). The subject of the invention is an apparatus implementing the above method.

User interface for speech model generation and testing

A computer system is provided including a control module 20 and data collection module 22 which generate user interfaces enabling a user to identify a vocabulary and a number of speakers from whom utterances are to be obtained. The data collection module 22 then co-ordinates the collection of utterance data for the words in the vocabulary from these speakers and stores the data in a speaker database 24. When a satisfactory set of utterances have been collected the utterances are passed to a model generation module 25 which generates a speech model using the utterances. The speech model is stored by the model generation module 25 in a model database 26. The generated model stored within the model database 26 can then be tested using a testing module 27 and other utterances stored within the speaker database 24. If the performance of the model is unsatisfactory further or different utterances can be used to generate new models for storage within the model database 26. When a speech model is determined to be satisfactory the control module 20 can invoke the output module 28 to output a copy of the model.
