Run-time rule-based topological installation suite

Methods, systems, and computer program products for improving installation of software suites by automatically and dynamically obtaining information pertaining to the heterogeneous run-time environment in which the suite will be installed, and using this information as input to a rules engine which evaluates rules to dynamically select a predetermined topology-specific configuration of the suite. The software installation process is thereby adapted and configured dynamically based on the unique topology of the environment in which the suite is being installed, yet the burden on the software installer to understand the intricacies of his run-time environment (and to reflect those details in the suite customization process) is greatly reduced. Software installation is therefore quicker, easier, and less error-prone than in prior art approaches.

Apparatus and method for performing hardware and software co-verification testing

An apparatus, method and computer program product are provided for performing a sequence of verification tests to perform hardware and software co-verification on a system under verification. The apparatus comprises a plurality of signal interface controllers operable to be coupled to the system under verification, with each signal interface controller being operable to perform one or more test actions transferring at least one of one or more stimulus signals and one or more response signals between a corresponding portion of the system under verification and the signal interface controller during performance of the sequence of verification tests. A debugger is also provided which is operable to control operation of a processing unit associated with the system under verification, the processing unit being operable to execute software routines. A debugger signal interface controller is arranged to interface with the debugger and to perform one or more test actions transferring at least one of one or more stimulus signals and one or more response signals between the debugger and the debugger signal interface controller during performance of the sequence of verification tests. A test manager coupled to the plurality of signal interface controllers and the debugger signal interface controller is operable to transfer test controlling messages to these interface controllers identifying the test actions to be performed. By this approach, the test manager is operable to control the operation of the processing unit via the debugger signal interface controller and the debugger in order to co-ordinate the execution of the software routines with a sequence of verification tests. This has been found to be a particularly efficient technique for performing hardware and software co-verification.

Method and apparatus for securing firearms and other valuables in an alarm protected facility

An alarm ready portable case is provided in which to secure a firearm or other protectable. The case includes sensors, a lock and, in several embodiments, structure to support the article to be protected. The case is adaptable to become part of a pre-existing facility security system of any of a plurality of manufacturers by being configured to receive any of several connectivity elements that are compatible with at least one of the security systems. For example, wireless transmitters that are compatible with different alarm systems may be connected. Terminals may also be directly wired into a hardwired zone of a security alarm panel. Transmitter receiving structure may be provided in the case for holding any such transmitter. Terminals are provided to connect to external wiring. Slots may be provided for communication interface cards, such as ethernet cards, wireless telecommunications cards, or other connectivity hardware. Internal conductors are provided in the case to connect the sensors to the transmitter, external wiring or other connectivity devices. The sensors may be normally closed switches that are opened when the lid or the lock of the case are opened, motion detectors that actuate when the case is moved, or other detection devices that generate a signal when the case is otherwise tampered with. The case provides an efficient way of retrofitting an existing facility alarm or security system to specifically protect a firearm or other protectable item.

Parked vehicle re-location and advertising/promotion/coupon distribution device

A device or system of devices which a person can use to easily remember the location of a vehicle in a parking garage, parking lot, street or other such area used for parking or storing vehicles. The device or system of devices can also be used by a destination-operator to notify a person of the business at that destination, sales, services, etc. in order to attract a prospective destination-utilizer to that destination. The device or system of devices may provide coupons or other transaction-inducing indicators for use at one or more destinations. The device or system of devices may include a paper scroll which extrudes from the device or system of devices, which paper scroll may describe the location of a vehicle, the best exit path to reach the vehicle from one or more parking-utilizing destinations, and an advertisement and / or coupon and map for one or more parking-utilizing destinations. The device or system of devices may also utilize basic technologies such as paper, paper-rolls, printers and the like to perform its functions. The device or system of devices may utilize any of the following technologies to perform it's functions, including but not limited to electronics, radio-frequency identification tags, radio-wave, laser, micro-wave, infra-red data transfer, or any other technology that may be useful. The device may also be used to keep track of the location of goods which have been placed in an indoor or outdoor storage facility. The device may also be used to help patrons of events such as indoor or outdoor concerts, athletic events, rallies and the like keep track of their seat location and retrieve instructions for returning to the seat after leaving the seat to purchase food, drinks, use the bathrooms, or engage in other such activities. While patrons at these events have tickets with seat numbers, the tickets often do not have maps and it is easy to get lost in a crowded facility where many areas look the same. The device provides information to the immediate user, and also a space for advertising or promotions for businesses.
