175 results about "Service Access Point" patented technology

A Service Access Point (SAP) is an identifying label for network endpoints used in Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) networking. The SAP is a conceptual location at which one OSI layer can request the services of another OSI layer. As an example, PD-SAP or PLME-SAP in IEEE 802.15.4 can be mentioned, where the Media Access Control (MAC) layer requests certain services from the Physical Layer. Service access points are also used in IEEE 802.2 Logical Link Control in Ethernet and similar Data Link Layer protocols.

Network management system and graphical user interface

A network management system and graphical user interface for configuring a network connection between first and second service access points utilizes a configuration manager and information manager to provide a generic set of models so that different manufacturer's nodal processors and other network hardware can be inserted into the network with minimal changes to the software which controls the device. The system comprises an information manager including routing information for the network. The configuration manager operates to establish a connection across each subnet on the route by sending requests to element managers to program the subnet elements.

Methods and system for routing emergency calls through the internet

A system (100) and method for routing an emergency request message from an Internet user (50) to an emergency-call-answering center (31) consisting of Public Service Access Points (PSAPs). An emergency request message is transmitted to an IP network (60) which is received by an emergency call handling function (172). The emergency call handling function (172) queries a database (170) and returns the physical location information associated with the IP address of the user (50). The call is formatted into a format compatible with the emergency call answering center (31) and transmitted via the PSTN (20) to the PSAP (36) serving the correct emergency service zone for the user (50).

Trigger for sending scheduling information in HSUPA

A method and corresponding equipment by which a service access point (SAP) of a radio access network is able to trigger a user equipment (UE) terminal to send scheduling information to the SAP for use by the SAP in scheduling / allocating resources for packet uplink from the UE to the SAP. The method uses an AG (absolute grant) or RG (relative grant) rate control / scheduling message as the trigger. The scheduling information is then sent by the UE via a MAC-e (medium access control-extended) PDU (protocol data unit).

Connectivity fault notification

Connectivity fault notification is provided by generating an alarm indication signal at a device that is logically adjacent to the fault, and forwarding the alarm indication signal upward through various levels to at least one client level entity. The alarm indication signal may be suppressed at any level for a service instance if service is restored at that level, or if a protection path prevents disruption of the service instance at that level, or auto-suppressed at an originating node based on number of times transmitted or elapsed time. The alarm indication signal may include a point of failure indicator such as the MAC address of the device that generates the alarm indication signal, or a failed resource identity such as an IEEE 802.1AB LLDP MAC Service Access Point (“MSAP”). Further, the alarm indication signal may be employed to trigger use of the protection path.

Cell switching method and device

The embodiment of the invention discloses a cell switching method and device. According to the technical scheme provided by applying the cell switching method and device, in the process of conducting data transmission at a terminal device and a service access point, if the service access point of the terminal device determines that cell switching needs to be carried out on the terminal device, the service access point indicates the terminal device to build presynchronization with the uplink of an alternate target cell, and the terminal device is made to obtain a timing advance value of the corresponding alternate target cell; then, cell switching is carried out on the terminal device according to the obtained timing advance value, so that long-time data interruption caused when the terminal device conducts synchronization with the uplink of the target cell after receiving a switching instruction for switching to the target cell is avoided, and the user plane data interruption time spent when cell switching is carried out on the terminal device, particularly large-span switching between cells such as earth satellites or satellites is shortened.

System and method for enabling transactions on an associated network

A method and system are disclosed for wireless payment and information collection. A central system generates a personalized application including unique application and transaction identifiers, security keys, and signatures for a user device. The user device implements the personalized application in order to access the services of the associated network. Tags, capable of short-range communication with the user devices, are deployed to service access points of the associated network. The tags and user device mutually authenticate and share identifiers. Validation of the user device results in the tag updating an irreversible counter, generating transaction certificate, and logging this transaction information. The transaction certificate and a portion of the log are communicated to the user device, and service is granted. The user device transmits the transaction information and log to the central system for billing when a network connection is available.

Public services access point (PSAP) designation of preferred emergency call routing method via internet or public switched telephone network (PSTN)

The use of the VoIP emergency network for routing wireless E911 calls to a designated PSAP. In this embodiment, a mobile positioning center (MPC) assigns an ESRK per existing prior art, but uses the invention to route the call to the PSAP via the VoIP server and an ESGW. This relieves wireless carriers of the obligation to install and maintain expensive dedicated SS7 or CAMA trunks from each MSC to each selective router in the areas served by that MSC. Instead, wireless 911 calls can be consolidated by ESGW vendors, maximizing the efficiency of the dedicated trunks to the selective router by sharing those trunks with multiple MSCs.
