Waveform generator for driving electromechanical device

An electrical waveform generator for driving an electromechanical load includes a digital signal processor connected to a waveform generator component in turn connected to an amplifier section with a filter network, the latter being connected to sensing and conditioning circuit componentry that is in turn connected to analog-to-digital converter circuitry. A digital memory stores digitized voltage and current waveform information. The processor determines a phase difference between voltage and current waveforms, compares the determined phase difference to a phase difference command and generates a phase error or correction signal. The processor also generates an amplitude error signal for inducing the amplifier section to change its output amplitude to result in a predetermined amplitude error level for a respective one of the voltage and current waveforms.

A method (and device so formed) for adapting a skin type decorative and protective case customized for fitting a hand held electronic device having a viewing screen and / or keyboard and configured for remaining on the device during use of the device. The method comprises the steps of forming the skin with a slot for insertion of thin items such as credit cards and money into a pocket either between walls of the case or between a wall of the case and an electronic device inserted in the skin case. The pockets are provided with elements to minimize any change of appearance of the original profile and elements for assisting in removing the items from the snug pocket element. The pockets further include elements for maintaining the integrity thereof relative to the remainder of the casing. The pocket may alternatively be directly integrated as part of the device housing.

Communication system architecture and operating protocol therefor

A connection broker (44), located between lower-level system entities (16, 58, 264) associated with a narrowband-broadband interface (250) and a call server (18) that controls call connection across the narrowband-broadband network, contains a memory (251) that stores connection-related information and protocol converters. The connection broker (44) accesses the protocol converters to interpret control messages received from the call server (18) and, where necessary, transposes messages for the call server into a standardised format for use over a uniform fabric application interface (66). Control messages pertaining to connection paths within the narrowband-broadband network (250) and relayed via the connection broker (44) are appropriately phrased (by the connection-related information and protocol converters) to ensure that meaningful information and instruction is communicated between the call server (18) and the lower-level system entities (16, 58, 264). Use of the protocol converters therefore enables connection attributes and network operation and configuration to be altered and advised in-call by having the connection broker (44) both change connection-related information and communicate any change in network configuration to the call server and lower-level system entities, as appropriate.

Four Component Phosphorescent OLED For Cool White Lighting Application

A light emitting system is provided including a first organic light emitting device. The first organic light emitting device includes an anode, a cathode, a first organic emitting layer disposed between the anode and the cathode, and a second organic emitting layer disposed between the anode and the cathode. The first organic emitting layer and the second organic emitting layer each include an emissive dopant having a peak wavelength of between 400 to 500 nanometers, but one of the peak wavelength of one of the dopants is at least 4 nm less than the peak wavelength of the other dopant. The first organic emitting layer and the second organic emitting layer may overlap each other, such as being disposed one over the other. The device may be used in white light or multi-color systems.

Multi-hop intelligent relaying method and apparatus for use in a frequency division duplexing based wireless access network

A multi-hop relaying method and apparatus used in a cellular network. The multi-hop transmission scheme utilizes intelligent relays within a conventional cellular system having at least one base station, one or more intelligent relays, and user equipment elements. The method includes selecting the strongest pilot signal from among the base stations and intelligent relays, reporting such to the base station, distributing an active user list to the relays along with scheduling and routing information via a relay control channel, and transmitting data according to a respective active user based upon the pilot signal strength to maximize coverage and capacity over the cellular system.
