Reduction of administrative overhead in maintaining network information, rapid convergence on an optimal routing path through the data network, and utilization of only required network resources are realized by a novel method for establishing a call path between network users. The method is based upon deployment of a network information server that stores network topology information and that is addressable by each end user. In this method, the network information server receives a request to establish a call path. The request identifies at least the calling party. In response to the request, the network information server determines a network traversal between the calling party and a root network wherein the network traversal includes call path information about the sub-networks between the calling party and the root network. The request for establishing a call path can also identify the called party. Based on the calling and called party identification, the network information server also determines a second network traversal between the called party and the root network. The second network traversal is sent to either the calling party or the called party or to both the calling and called parties. The server can determine an intersection of the traversals and send the intersection information to the parties. The intersection information is known as a merge point and represents an optimal call path between the parties.

Dynamically-tunable memory controller

A memory controller circuit arrangement and method utilize a tuning circuit that dynamically controls the timing of memory control operations, rather than simply relying on fixed timing parameters that are either hardwired or initialized upon startup of a memory controller. Dynamic control over the timing of memory control operations typically incorporates memory test control logic that verifies whether or not a memory storage device will reliably operate using the dynamically-selected values of given timing parameters. Then, based upon the results of such testing, such dynamically-selected values are selectively updated and retested until optimum values are found. The dynamically-selected values may be used to set one or more programmable registers, each of which may in turn be used to control the operation of a programmable delay counter that enables a state transition in a state machine logic circuit to initiate performance of a memory control operation by the logic circuit. Dynamic tuning may also utilize a unique binary search engine circuit arrangement that updates one of two registers with an average of the current values stored in such registers based upon the result of a test performed using that average value. By selectively updating such registers, a fast convergence to an optimum value occurs with minimal circuitry.

Disclosed is a Neighbor Location Discovery Protocol (NLDP) that determines the relative locations of the nodes in a mesh network. In one embodiment, NLDP can be implemented for an ad-hoc wireless network where the nodes are equipped with directional antennas and are not able to use GPS. While NLDP relies on nodes having at least two RF transceivers, it offers significant advantages over previously proposed protocols that employ only one RF transceiver. In NLDP antenna hardware is simple, easy to implement, and readily available. Further, NLDP exploits the host node's ability to operate simultaneously over non-overlapping channels to quickly converge on the neighbor's location. NLDP is limited by the range of the control channel, which operates in a omni-directional fashion. However, by choosing a low frequency band, high power, and low data rate, the range of the control channel can be increased to match the range on the data channel.

A radio-frequency (RF) transmitter power amplifier circuit provides for practically linear performance by predistorting the amplifier input signals to compensate for amplifier distortion at high power levels, and provides a fine degree of control of amplifier power needed to handle complex modulation schemes with widely and rapidly varying power requirements. A predistortion database (20) contains gain and phase corrections for various transmission types and a separate automatic gain control database (38) contains fine amplifier gain corrections. A real-time processor (26) combines the two types of corrections and applies them to the amplifier input signals, and a background processor (16) continually updates both databases in accordance with a programmable priority scheme. Integration of predistortion and amplifier power control is achieved in a manner that minimizes adverse effects of one type of control on the other. One feature of the invention provides for rapid convergence of the predistortion correction.

The present invention belongs to the technical field of semiconductor micro-electronics, and in particular relates to a restraining method and a system of the synchronous layout of a module, a macro unit and a standard unit in the automatic layout design of an integrated circuit domain. Based on the fact that the soft module, the macro unit and the standard unit exist simultaneously, the system first produces a large group of initial layouts, conducts a layout of soft modules and macro units to the initial layouts and then carries out an assembled layout to the standard unit to generate a group of overall layouts. The group of overall layouts is evaluated, the small group of best evaluated overall layouts is taken as the next initial layouts, and then new layouts of soft modules, macro units and an assembled layout of standard units are carried out, a new round of layout evaluation is conducted, and a group of overall layouts with the best results is retained. A most appropriate overall layout is selected out by users as the starting point of the standard units to achieve the goal of rapid restraint, thereby achieving a rapid layout to the SoC integrated circuit that including a large number of macro units, soft modules and standard units and generating an integrated circuit layout which is provided with small layout area and high intercommunicating speed and is unrestricted by the circuit scale simultaneously.
