Length contraction is the phenomenon that a moving object's length is measured to be shorter than its proper length, which is the length as measured in the object's own rest frame. It is also known as Lorentz contraction or Lorentz–FitzGerald contraction (after Hendrik Lorentz and George Francis FitzGerald) and is usually only noticeable at a substantial fraction of the speed of light. Length contraction is only in the direction in which the body is travelling. For standard objects, this effect is negligible at everyday speeds, and can be ignored for all regular purposes, only becoming significant as the object approaches the speed of light relative to the observer.

A seat restraint system whose torso belt includes an inflatable structure that inflates upon impact to protect the occupants of a vehicle such as an automobile. The torso belt is secured to an anchor arm that is pivotally mounted on a side surface of a seat of the vehicle or a side structure of the vehicle. The anchor arm is rotationally biased to remove slack in the torso belt and locks up in the event of a vehicle crash or sudden stop. The inflatable structure is linked to a gas generator and crash sensor. The gas generator may be mounted in the seat or within the anchor arm itself. When an impact above a predetermined level of severity is detected, the gas generator is ignited, inflating the inflatable structure which contracts in length as it inflates. In a preferred embodiment, the inflatable structure is a braided tube. As the braided tube inflates, the diameter of the tube increases significantly and its length decreases significantly, due to the orientation of the fibers comprising the braided tube. The contraction in length pretensions the seat belt system by pulling any additional slack out of the seat belt systems. In a frontal impact, the inflated structure restricts the forward motion of an occupant and distributes crash loads over a larger occupant surface area to reduce both primary and secondary injuries. In a side impact, the inflated structure passes over the occupant's shoulder, restricts occupant motion, distributes crash loads and provides head and neck protection.

The stretcher is characterized in that a lying board of the stretcher is boat-shaped in general; two sides of the lying board are straight lines, and two ends are elliptical curves with one end being relatively sharp which is half of an elliptical curve divided by a short axis, and with the other one being relatively obtuse which is half of an elliptical curve divided by a long axis. the stretcher is provided with a head lying board, a intermediate lying board, and a foot lying board; among the three lying boards, the intermediate board is an intermediate sleeve made of a stainless sheet steel with thickness of about 3mm and is provided with a vertical rib plate and a hook-head block device; the vertical rib plate can increase the stiffness and improve the structure, and the hook-head block device enables orderly relative motion with constraint of the three lying boards; parts of the head lying board and the foot lying board can be retracted into the intermediate lying board and therefore length contraction is realized.
