Method and apparatus for an extracorporeal control of blood glucose

A method for controlling the blood glucose level of a patient and periodically calibrating the glucose sensor using a calibration solution. The method controls the level of blood glucose in a patient through an extracorporeal blood circuit by: withdrawing blood from a vascular system in the patient to the extracorporeal circuit; removing ultrafiltrate from the withdrawn blood in the circuit; determining a level of glucose present in the blood based on the removed ultrafiltrate; infusing at least a portion of the removed ultrafiltrate and the withdrawn blood into the vascular system, and infusing insulin into the patient based on the determined level of glucose.

Method of detecting vehicle-operator state

A method of detecting the state of an operator of a vehicle utilizes a low-cost operator state detection system having no more than one camera located preferably in the vehicle and directed toward a driver. A processor of the detection system processes preferably three points of the facial feature of the driver to calculate head pose and thus determine driver state (i.e. distracted, drowsy, etc.). The head pose is generally a three dimensional vector that includes the two angular components of yaw and pitch, but preferably not roll. Preferably, an output signal of the processor is sent to a counter measure system to alert the driver and / or accentuate vehicle safety response.

Method and system for quickly recognizing and responding to user intents and questions from natural language input using intelligent hierarchical processing and personalized adaptive semantic interface

In embodiments of the present invention, capabilities are described for understanding and responding to the user intent and questions quickly wherein the understanding is based on supervised system learning, Intelligent layered semantic and syntactic information processing and personalized adaptive semantic interface. Supervised system learning creates reference pattern set for the intent repository and possible question categories. Each layer in the layered processing increases the probability of the intent / question recognition. Personalized adaptive voice interface learns from user's interactions over time by enriching the pattern sets and personal index for successfully resolved user intents and questions. Collectively, all these technologies improve the response time for correctly recognizing and responding to user's intents and questions.

A nonvolatile programmable resistance memory cell comprising a high-mobility ion conductor and a method for fabricating the same are provides. The memory cell comprises of a first and second electrode and a reversible and persistent programmable resistance structure connecting the first and second electrode. The resistance is modifiable by altering the ionic distribution of a high-mobility oxygen ion conductor region. As an alternate embodiment, the memory cell further includes a transition-metal oxide region.
