Method of detecting vehicle-operator state

A method of detecting the state of an operator of a vehicle utilizes a low-cost operator state detection system having no more than one camera located preferably in the vehicle and directed toward a driver. A processor of the detection system processes preferably three points of the facial feature of the driver to calculate head pose and thus determine driver state (i.e. distracted, drowsy, etc.). The head pose is generally a three dimensional vector that includes the two angular components of yaw and pitch, but preferably not roll. Preferably, an output signal of the processor is sent to a counter measure system to alert the driver and / or accentuate vehicle safety response.

Method and apparatus for reclaiming oil from waste plastic

PCT No. PCT/JP97/00572 Sec. 371 Date Jan. 8, 1998 Sec. 102(e) Date Jan. 8, 1998 PCT Filed Feb. 27, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO97/31990 PCT Pub. Date Sep. 4, 1997This invention provides a method for reclaiming oil from waste plastic in such a way that thermosetting resins and solid foreign matter in the plastic will not pose a problem. This method greatly reduces the burden of presorting the garbage or industrial waste. To achieve this objective when oil is to be reclaimed from a waste plastic containing chlorine compounds, such as vinyl chloride, the plastic must first be stripped of chlorine. Prior to pyrolysis, while being conveyed forward in a continuous stream, the plastic is mixed with heated sand and/or an additive agent to raise its temperature to 250-350 DEG C. This creates a product which is comprised of a mixture of sand and substantially dechlorinated plastic. The product is mixed with heated sand to heat it directly to a temperature of 350-500 DEG C. It is maintained at this temperature until pyrolysis occurs. In order to obtain high-quality oil with a low boiling point, a first gas/liquid separation process separates the product obtained from the aforesaid pyrolysis into liquid high-boiling point oil, gaseous low-boiling point oil and low molecular-weight gases, and recirculates the liquid high-boiling point oil to the pyrolysis process, and a second gas/liquid separation process separates the gaseous low-boiling point oil and low molecular-weight gases into liquid low-boiling point oil and low molecular-weight gases. The first and second gas/liquid separation process are connected in sequence.

Electronic Device And Rear-View Device

An improved rear-view device for a motor vehicle includes an electronic device with at least one housing device, comprising at least one floor piece and a cover piece configured to be arranged on the floor piece. The floor piece and the cover piece, in the joined state, delimit an at least almost completely closed cavity. At least one first retaining means of a retaining unit, fixes the housing device in or on the rear-view device. At least one electronic module comprises at least one conductor unit and at least one contact means connected with the conductor unit. The conductor unit is arranged on a surface of the floor piece and/or cover piece and turned towards the cavity. The conductor unit comprises at least one carrier and at least one conductor track applied directly to the carrier. The contact means extends through the cover piece and/or through the floor piece with at least one protruding contact section and is accessible externally. The at least one carrier of the at least one conductor unit is formed at least in sections by a functional surface of the floor piece and/or the cover piece adjacent to the cavity and turned towards the cavity. The cover piece and/or floor piece forms a common component with the at least one first retaining means of the retaining unit.

Vehicle door handle

A door handle assembly for opening a door of a vehicle includes a handle portion and a lever or actuating member for actuating or releasing a latch mechanism of a vehicle door. The door handle assembly includes fewer components than known door handles and is reversible or suitable for use at either side of the vehicle. The door handle assembly may include a counterweight and lever mechanism at the base of the door handle assembly, such that the components do not extend substantially into the door cavity. The counterweight may be positioned rearwardly and outwardly of a pivot axis of the lever mechanism when the handle is at an initial or non-opening position, thereby providing enhanced retention of the door handle assembly during vehicle collisions.
