Multi-mode vibration damping device and method using negative capacitance shunt circuits

A novel multi-mode vibration damper is invented by using a pair of piezoelectric patches connected with negative capacitance shunt circuit units. A piezoelectric material connected with a series resistor-negative capacitor branch circuit is capable of suppressing the vibration and / or noise amplitudes in the low frequency range. The other piezoelectric material connected with a parallel resistor-negative capacitor circuit is for suppressing the vibration and / or noise amplitudes in the high frequency range. By combining two negative capacitance shunt circuit units, a multi-mode vibration damper is capable of suppressing the whole structure modes simultaneously. In order to describe the characteristic behaviors of a multi-mode vibration damper, the stiffness ratio and loss factor with respect to the non-dimensional frequency are considered. The mechanism of a shunt damper is also described as considering a shunt voltage generated by the shunt impedance. The example results show that the multi-mode vibration damper reduces the vibration amplitudes of the vibrating system significantly across a broadband frequency range.

Arc fault detection for aircraft

An arc fault detector system detects arcing faults in an electrical distribution system by monitoring one or more conductors and producing an input signal representing one or more electrical signal conditions in the circuit to be monitored. This input signal is processed to develop signals representing the electrical current flow through the monitored circuit and broadband noise signal components. The system analyzes these signals to determine whether an arcing fault is present, and if so, outputs a trip signal which may be used directly or indirectly to trip a circuit breaker or other circuit interruption device.

Broadband network with enterprise wireless communication system for residential and business environment

The present invention sets forth a network-centric service distribution architecture that integrates a wireless access system in the residence, SOHO, business or public environment through the use of a local broadband network, such as a Residential-Business Broadband Network (RBN), to the service provider's broadband transport network and to a service provider's broadband packet network. The system includes a Media Terminal Adapter coupled via the RBN to the access port(s) and via the service provider's broadband transport network to the service provider's broadband packet network. The access port is coupled to the Media Terminal Adapter via either an RBN (e.g., a Local Area Network—LAN) or simply via a traditional POTS line interface. The access port receives and sends wireless signals to a plurality of RBN devices, allowing the user to control these devices remotely from the residence, business, SOHO or public environments. The integration of an RBN to a service provider's broadband packet network allows a subscriber to communicate at home and at the office with one communication device anytime anywhere.

Apparatus and method for switching between an AMC mode and a diversity mode in a broadband wireless communication system

An apparatus and method for switching between an AMC mode and a diversity mode adaptively according to a channel environment in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. According to the present invention, a transmitter (a base station) determines a transmission mode according to frequency-domain and time-domain channel measurement information received from a receiver (a mobile station). If the transmission mode is the AMC mode, the transmitter selects a coding and modulation scheme according to a frequency-domain CQI received from the receiver. If the transmission mode is a diversity mode, the transmitter selects a predetermined coding and modulation scheme.

System and method for selecting a serving base station according to a drop of a mobile subscriber station in a broadband wireless access communication system

Disclosed are a system and a method for selecting a new serving base station when a drop occurs in a mobile subscriber station in a broadband wireless access communication system including the mobile subscriber station, a serving base station communicating with the mobile subscriber station, and a plurality of neighbor base stations, different from the serving base station. The mobile subscriber station receives information related to the neighbor base stations from the serving base station communicating with the mobile subscriber station. The mobile subscriber station monitors the frequency bands of the neighbor base stations included in the information related to the neighbor base stations if the drop is detected in order to detect target base stations capable of serving as a new serving base station for communicating with the mobile subscriber station when the drop occurs in the mobile subscriber station according to a monitoring result for the frequency bands of the neighbor base stations. The mobile subscriber station selects the new serving base station from the detected target base stations so that the it is possible for the mobile subscriber station to reestablish the communication with regard to the new serving base station within a short period of time.

FMCW broadband life detection radar breathing and heartbeat signal extraction algorithm

The present invention provides an FMCW broadband life detection radar breathing and heartbeat signal extraction algorithm. Compared with the prior art, the algorithm has the advantages that breathing and heartbeat signals of multiple persons can be obtained simultaneously, the boundaries and energy of reconstructed breathing signals can be very well kept by using Coiflets wavelets compared with traditional frequency-domain filtering, especially processing conducted on short-time signals is obvious, higher harmonics of the breathing signals are filtered out by adopting a double-coefficient based LMS self-adaptive filtering algorithm, and the self-adaptive filtering algorithm does not need additional reference signals. Due to the fact that a degressive search step size coefficient is adopted in the algorithm, the heartbeat signals can be better retained while breathing signal harmonics are filtered out, the heartbeat signals can be rapidly converged by selecting the appropriate search step size coefficient and adopting the double-coefficient based LMS self-adaptive filtering algorithm, and smaller stable imbalance is kept in longer time, so that finally separated heartbeat signals are more accurate in frequency component within a long time.

Granule graininess, concentration and density measuring method and device

The invention discloses a measuring method and device for measuring the particle granularity, consistency and density, which relates to the technical field of ultrasonic measurement. The invention aims at solving the technical problem of increasing the commonality and the precision of the ultrasonic measurement. The measuring device includes a computer, a signal process circuit, a pulse wave launch / receive circuit and a broadband transducer, which are orderly connected together; the broadband transducer is arranged at the external side of a baffle plate. The process procedures of the computer are as follows: ultrasonic amplitude phase spectrum is obtained after the rapid Fourier transformation of the signal, and then the phase spectrum is converted to obtain a reflection coefficient, the acoustic characteristic impedance, the acoustic attenuation coefficient and the sound velocity; the compound density can be calculated by the measuring value, and the consistency can be calculated through the known particle and the density of the continuous medium; the frequency analysis of the direct reflection wave and the transmission echo is carried out to obtain difference between the acoustic attenuation spectrum and the theoretical acoustic attenuation spectrum, and the difference is then regarded as the objective function, and then is optimized with optimization method to calculate the distribution of the particle granularity. The invention has the advantages of measuring and analysis basing on the reflecting ultrasonic, great commonality and precise measuring result.
