An image pickup apparatus is provided having first and second image pickup portions for receiving at least first and second distinct wavelength components of object light, respectively, and first and second optical systems for guiding the first and second wavelength components to the first and second image pickup portions, respectively, via different optical paths. The first and second optical systems are formed to have respective shapes so that the focal length of the first optical system with regard to the first wavelength component is equal to the focal length of the second optical system with regard to the second wavelength component. An image sensing apparatus senses an image by illuminating a document by a light source including three light emitting diodes which emit light of red, green, and blue so that the light reflected from the document is incident on a sensor array which in turn generates an electric signal corresponding to the incident light, wherein a predetermined light emitting diode is also turned on during a period in which no image sensing operation is performed thereby making it possible to stabilize the intensity of light illuminating an image. There is provided a piezoelectric device for generating an acoustic signal in which an expansion mechanism expands a disposition of a laminated piezoelectric actuator by the principle of leverage. The mass of a base member placed in the expansion mechanism is larger than the mass of a vibration output member. An overall device size is small. The piezoelectric device has a pressurization structure for reducing a tractive force acting on the laminated piezoelectric actuator which is generated by the amplification. This enables provision of a piezoelectric device for generating an acoustic signal that is a small size, highly resistant to dropping impact, and has god acoustic performance with less sound leakage.

A solid oxide fuel cell stack in which first and second cell plates are alternately stacked. The first cell plates comprises a substrate having a plurality of opening portions, a groove which extends through the plurality of opening portions formed on a lower surface of the substrate, a solid electrolyte layer which covers the opening portion formed on an upper surface of the substrate, a fuel electrode layer which covers the opening portions formed on the solid electrolyte layer, and an air electrode layer formed on the lower surface of the substrate so as to extend along the opening portions and the groove. The second cell plates has a structure in which the air electrode layer is replaced with the fuel electrode layer in the first cell plate. In this fuel cell stack, the air electrode layer of the first cell plate faces the air electrode layer of the second cell plate, and the fuel electrode layer of the first cell plate faces the fuel electrode layer of the second cell plate. A method of manufacturing the solid oxide fuel cell stack comprises preparing the first cell plate, preparing the second cell plate, alternately stacking the first and second cell plates, and collectively sintering the stacked first and second cell plates.
