An array stimulator has a plurality of electrodes in an array (22), the electrodes forming a plurality of electrode pairs, and a signal generator (18) for generating signals to the electrodes so as to generate electrical pulse in a patient to which the stimulator has been applied either transcutaneously or by implantation. Those electrical pulses form a composite pulse in the patient which stimulates the nervous system of the patient. The composite pulse has a duration between 4 μs and 1500 μs and a maximum voltage between 2V and 50V when the stimulator is implanted, and 15V to 500V when applied transcutaneously. The electrical pulses themselves are significantly shorter duration than the composite pulse, so they stimulate the nervous system of the patient much less than the composite pulse or not at all.

Methods and devices are provided for improved large-scale solar installations. In one embodiment, a photovoltaic module is provided comprising a module front layer comprising a glass plate, a module back layer comprising an electrically conductive foil, and a plurality of solar cells arranged to be protected by the front layer and the back layer. In some embodiments, the module back layer is aluminum foil. The module back layer may have an externally exposed surface. The module back layer may be electrically grounded. An electrically insulating pottant material may be used with the solar cells to separate them from the module back layer. This allows for a high voltage withstand between the cells and the outer surface of the back layer.

The method is characterized by firstly, establishing a traction motor state equation and an output equation, expanding a state vector and a fault vector into an augmented vector and acquiring an augmented system state space description equation; for the established augmented system state space description equation, designing an interval observer based on a unknown input observer and constructing an augmented system error dynamic equation; according to the augmented system state space description equation, acquiring a high speed train traction motor fault diagnosis observer gain matrix based on the unknown input observer and the interval observer; and carrying out equivalent linearity transformation on an augmented system so that a system error distribution matrix satisfies a Metzler matrix, and according to the designed observer, acquiring a state estimation value so as to complete on-line fault diagnosis and fault estimation. By using the method, fault diagnosis performance can be increased so that real-time fault diagnosis and fault estimation can be performed on the traction motor system sensor.

A memory cell comprises a multilayer gate heating structure formed over a channel region between source and drain regions. The multilayer gate heating structure comprises polysilicon and metal silicide layers stacked over a similarly shaped gate oxide. When a programming voltage is applied across the metal silicide layer, there is intense localized heating. The heating causes segregation of the channel dopant atoms towards the source and drain regions, lowering the threshold voltage of the device. The heating causes carrier activation in the polysilicon layer and dopant penetration through the oxide layer into the channel region, thereby increasing the threshold voltage of the device.

The technical result of the invention consists in simplifying the design, the possibility of monitoring and regulating the moment of self-ignition of a homogenized fuel-air mix, and reducing the specific flow rate of the fuel. The method for operating an internal combustion engine consists in feeding a charge to the combustion chamber of a main cylinder and an auxiliary cylinder which are connected to one another and have different diameters, and in which the pistons are arranged. The piston of the auxiliary cylinder is delayed in accordance with the shaft rotation phase with respect to the piston of the main cylinder and as the piston of the main cylinder reaches the upper dead center thereof, when the majority of the charge is located in the auxiliary cylinder, and the charge to the piston of the auxiliary cylinder is boosted. The piston of the main cylinder is used to compress the mix without bringing said mix to self-ignition and therefore preparing said mix for subsequent rapid ignition, while the piston of the auxiliary cylinder is used to boost the compressed homogenized fuel-air mix, and said mix is brought to the temperature and pressure in the combustion chamber prior to compression self-ignition of the mix.

An expansion system in a distributed communication equipment architecture is controlled by a controller in a host system. Communication signals are transferred to the communication module(s) through an expansion system control device, and control information is then transferred back to the control device. Control information may also be transferred from the expansion system control device to the host system through the communication module(s). This simplifies the design and lowers the cost of the control device, which does not process received signals. Control redundancy is provided in some embodiments by implementing multiple communication modules and corresponding communication links.
