A specification language allows a user to define platform-independent user interface panels without detailed knowledge of complex computer programming languages. The specification language is referred to herein as a Panel Definition Markup Language (PDML), which defines tags that are used in similar fashion to those defined in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), that allow a user to specify the exact location of components displayed in the panel. A graphical editor allows the creation and modification of platform-independent user interface panels without programming directly in the specification language. A conversion tool may be used to convert platform-specific user interface panels to corresponding platform-independent user interface panels. A help generator tool also facilitates the generation of context-sensitive help for a user interface panel.

Our invention is an apparatus and method to identify and simultaneously visualize and hear musical notes contained in an analog or digital sound wave. Musical notes are expanded into a language for the eye as well as the ear. An analog-to-digital converter processes an analog sound wave to provide a digital sound wave. Component frequencies of the digital sound waves are identified, filtered and translated to their corresponding musical note and volume. As the original digital sound wave is sent through a digital-to-analog converter and output to an audio device, the identified musical notes are synchronously output to a display device. User-specified parameters, adjustable at any time before, during or after the music-playing process, control frequency filtering, the graphic display of the identified musical notes and the graphical background on which the musical notes are displayed. Users may also utilize existing, or create their own, computer programming code software modules, known as plug-ins, or hardware components, to interface with the invention to extend and control the invention's functionality. The data model is used by a device application designer to generate, model, and debug a mobile application. The data model is used to take into consideration characteristics of the selected platform and a selected mobile device as the application is designed. A simulator models the application user interface (UI) as it will appear on the selected platform. One of the greatest challenges in C / C++-based design methodology is to efficiently map C / C++ models into hardware. Many of the networking and multimedia applications implemented in hardware or mixed hardware / software systems are making use of complex data structures stored in one or multiple memories. As a result, many of the C / C++ features which were originally designed for software applications are now making their way into hardware. Such features include dynamic memory allocation / deallocation and pointers used to manage data. This inventors present a solution for efficiently mapping arbitrary C code with pointers and malloc / free into hardware. This solution fits current memory management methodologies. It consists of instantiating a hardware allocator tailored to an application and a memory architecture. This work also supports the resolution of pointers without restriction on the data structures. An implementation using the SUIF framework is presented, followed by some case studies such as the realization of a video filter.

Many electronic medical devices include program design features that direct the operation of the device. The program design features of most electronic medical devices reside in the device itself and therefore are easily discovered by reverse engineering. In most cases, however, these features can be introduced into the device from an external source for only so long as necessary for each operation of the device, thereby making the reverse engineering of these features more difficult (or even impossible) and preserving a greater degree of design secrecy.

Holding the communication state in the communication software element associated with each application software element allows the application software element and communication software element assembly to communicate and move in particularly dynamic fashion. Messaging consequently enabled, carried out on a per software element basis, allows for continuity of communication between objects even if they move in a dynamic fashion.

The invention discloses a flight program design system for performance-based navigation (PBN), a verification platform and a verification method, belonging to the field of aerial navigation. The program design system is based on an AIXM (Aeronautical Information Exchange Model) core database; a program protection region can be automatically drawn, an obstacle is evaluated, and a chart is generated; and thus, functions such as seamless connection and the like of the PBN program protection region and the conventional flight program protection region can be realized. According to the system, the chart can be automatically generated according to data finished by the flight program design, customized edition and modification can also be realized according to requirement, and program design and publishing are finished at one time. By using the flight program design system, the verification platform and the verification method, the PBN program can be directly added in a navigation database of the verification platform, and the navigation database can be edited and modified in a verification process. In addition, a visual scene database is increased; the defects and the disadvantages of the program design can be directly discovered according to geomorphology in a visual scene when the PBN flight program is verified; and the program is further modified perfectly.

A method and system to share objects that may reside on different machines. These objects can be accessed and shared using a computer network such as the Internet. The objects can comprise computer programming objects, that may include but are not limited to, application programming interfaces (APIs), programming object libraries, computer program object definitions, and other like information for computer network based applications. The method and system do not require a computer server since the invention may operate more like a peer-to-peer or multipoint computer network. Methods, computer programming and devices for transferring heat to and / or from a body portion of a mammal are provided. One approach includes directly determining a state of vasoconstriction or vasodilation in a portion of a body, and supplying heat to the portion of the body when vasoconstriction is determined, and removing heat from the portion of the body when vasodilation is determined. The body portion preferably includes specific heat exchange vasculature. In another approach, a transition of the body portion from a state of vasodilation to vasoconstriction is determined and the body portion is then actively kept in a state of vasodilation while removing heat therefrom.

A system and methods for versioning software components in connection with a computer programming language are provided. In exemplary aspects, the versioning system makes use of intelligent defaults, provides a vehicle for unambiguous specification of developer intent and implements conflict resolution rules in connection with the versioning of software components.
