System and method for providing routing, mapping, and relative position information to users of a communication network

The present invention is directed to a system and method for providing real-time position information of one party to another party by utilizing a conventional telecommunication network system such as the convention telephone network, a mobile telecommunications network, a computer network, or the Internet. More specifically, the preferred embodiments of the present invention allow a caller and a receiver of a telephone call to provide to and receive from each other position information related to the caller and / or receiver's physical location, including address information, GPS coordinates, nearby fixed locations such as a parking structure, etc. Additionally, the preferred embodiments of the present invention allow a caller and receiver to retrieve routing instructions or maps for traveling to or from each other. In another embodiment of the present invention, a party may locate the position of another party via the entry of the other party's unique identifier such as a phone number of the other party's mobile phone. In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the position information of a party may be concurrently delivered to another party's computer terminal whereby the other party can process the information in further detail.

System and method for biometric data capture for event prediction

A computer implemented system for automatically recording and generating predictive outputs relating to a medical procedure is described. The system is augmented with biometric sensory data from a biometric sensor coupled to a body of a healthcare practitioner. The biometric sensory data is processed to obtain one or more time-synchronized data objects providing a proxy to an estimated stress level associated with the healthcare practitioner, and the one or more time-synchronized data objects are utilized to identify abnormality-related durations of time encapsulated in the form of time-based metadata tags. The time-based metadata tags are utilized to automatically modify characteristics of the recording or generating of predictive outputs to temporarily consume more computational processing resources during the abnormality-related durations of time.

Rendering graphics/image data using dynamically generated video streams

The present invention provides for rendering graphics / image data at an electronic device that typically has limited resources. A video data steam is received at an electronic device, the video data stream including either user interface information or slideshow presentation data coded in a video codec format. A video processor of the electronic device is used to decode at least a portion of the video data stream into video frame data. A portion of the user interface or slideshow presentation is then displayed as video from data on a display of the electronic device.

Failure control unit

A transmission unit and a failure recovery method with failure recover functions, which use limited network resources efficiently. A label table manager manages a label table which associates incoming labels related to incoming transmission data with outgoing labels related to outgoing transmission data. Based on the label table, a transmission controller performs label-switching of transmission data. A path set-up unit establishes a loop-shaped protection path that includes a part or whole of transmission links of an existing working path and would allow transmission data to flow in the opposite direction to that of the working path. When a failure occurs, a failure recovery controller changes the association between the incoming and outgoing labels stored in the label table and switches the failed part of the working path to the loop-shaped protection path, thereby restoring the label-switched network.
