Schedule based data lifecycle management

A system and method for defining a separate lifecycle policy for each of one or more data images. A backup server is configured to select a first point-in-time value, which indicates when to begin moving a data image from a first data storage medium to a second storage medium. The point-in-time value corresponds to a calendar date and an hour or hours of the day. The backup server is configured to continue selecting a respective point-in-time value for each data storage medium within a tiered storage hierarchy in order to define the lifecycle policy. The backup server may be further configured to delete a copy of the data image on a source data storage medium when completion of a move of the data image to a destination data storage medium is detected. Further, the backup server may detect scheduling conflicts between two or more lifecycle policies.

Apparatus and method for providing sequence database comparison

InactiveUS7231390B2Extend useful lifeLarge and sensitive and efficient database-to-databaseDigital data information retrievalData processing applicationsDatabaseSequence database
A method and system of comparing a query and a subject database using a distributed computing platform is disclosed. The databases are divided into data elements having a size within a specified range. All data elements and task definitions are sent to a master CPU of a master-slave distributed computing platform, wherein task definitions comprise at least one comparison parameter, at least one executable comparison element, and a query and a subject data element ID / descriptor. Data elements are sent alternately from query and subject data elements. A task definition is sent for each task from the master CPU to one of a plurality of slave CPUs when all parts of a task definition and data elements referenced by the task definition are available at the master CPU. Data elements are then sent to the slave CPUs for performance of the tasks. Task results for each task are returned to a CPU.

Interactive type three-chamber biological fuel cell device and method for denitriding wastewater by using device

The invention discloses an interactive type three-chamber biological fuel cell device and a method for denitriding wastewater by using the device, belongs to the sewage biological remediation and in particular relates to a denitrification treatment method applicable to wastewater containing nitrate nitrogen. By adopting the method, nitrate instead of oxygen is taken as an electron acceptor of a negative electrode on the basis of a conventional two-chamber biological fuel cell, and a three-chamber biological fuel cell consisting of a middle positive electrode chamber and two side negative electrode chambers is built; meanwhile, the conditions of switching on and off a middle positive electrode and two side negative electrodes are controlled interactively through a control switch, so that an electrode denitrification process and a non-electrode denitrification process of the negative electrode are reasonably matched to process. The method is capable of sustainably generating current and effectively removing nitrate nitrogen and saving an organic carbon source needed for denitrification; the method is a novel sewage treatment method based on energy conservation and consumption reduction and is good in application prospect.

Device and method for the decontamination of hollow objects such as container caps using UV radiations

A device is provided for the decontamination of hollow objects with a cavity such as caps, including: (i) a first exposure apparatus including at least a UV radiation source and a reflector oriented toward the cavity of the positioned objects, able to produce a direct exposure to UV radiations of surfaces inside the cavity, (ii) a second exposure apparatus including at least a UV radiation source placed on the opposite side relative to the cavity of the positioned objects, thes second exposure apparatus being able to expose surfaces inside the objects cavity to UV radiations by diffusion and / or transmission of UV radiations through the walls surrounding the objects cavity, and the first and second exposure apparatus cooperating for producing a global exposure to UV radiations of the surfaces inside the objects cavity. A method is also provided for the decontamination of hollow objects.

Method and system for controlling access to wireless apparatuses

A system for securely controlling access between two wireless (i.e. Bluetooth-enabled) apparatuses, also comprising a supervisor apparatus. The first apparatus is paired to the second by establishing a secure wireless (i.e. Bluetooth) link The first apparatus includes a stored partial link key and a link key generator: The first apparatus receives a first secret key from the apparatus user, and may also receive a second secret key from the supervisor apparatus. The link key generator generates either a first link key based upon a stored first partial link key, the first secret key and the second secret key or a second link key based upon the stored first partial link key and the first secret key. An access control module in the second apparatus determines the level of access that the first apparatus is granted based upon the link key used to establish the secure connection—full / restricted access.
