The invention relates to a pollution source tracing method. The method comprises the steps that a vector A is formed by taking an initial pollution source as a starting point and taking the reverse direction of a wind direction in a domain of the initial pollution source as a direction, a sub-grid group B intersected with the vector is acquired through the vector, after the sub-grid group B is acquired, sub-grid regions of which the pollutant concentration is greater than a preset value is screened, and a sub-grid group C is formed by the sub-grid regions; if the sub-grid group C is an empty set, namely, the number of sub-grid regions in the sub-grid group C is zero, namely, no pollution source exists in the headwind direction of the initial grid, it can be judged that the initial pollution source in the initial grid is the pollution source, otherwise, reverse tracing is sequentially conducted on the sub-grids in the sub-grid group C according to the reverse direction of the vector A through the reverse tracing method until the pollution source in a to-be-detected region is found. Compared with an existing traceability method, the method is simple and effective, the traceability accuracy is high, electronic expression can be easily carried out through a computer system, and the traceability efficiency is high.
