Impact tool and method of controlling impact tool

ActiveUS20150336249A1High rotational speedReduce sizeDerricks/mastsSpannersSemiconductorDuty cycle
An impact tool includes: a motor; a trigger; a controller configured to control driving power supplied to the motor using a semiconductor switching element according to an operation of the trigger; a striking mechanism configured to drive a tip tool continuously or intermittently by rotation force of the motor, the striking mechanism including a hammer and an anvil. The controller drives the semiconductor switching element at a high duty ratio when the trigger is manipulated. The motor is driven so that the duty ratio is lowered before a first striking of the hammer on the anvil is performed and the first striking is performed at a low duty ratio lower than the high duty ratio.

Digital Content Protection Method and Apparatus

<heading lvl="0">Abstract of Disclosure< / heading> Before use, a population of tamper-resistant cryptographic enforcement devices is partitioned into groups and issued one or more group keys. Each tamper-resistant device contains multiple computational units to control access to digital content. One of the computational units within each tamper-resistant device communicates with another of the computational units acting as an interface control processor, and serves to protect the contents of a nonvolatile memory from unauthorized access or modification by other portions of the tamper-resistant device, while performing cryptographic computations using the memory contents. Content providers enforce viewing privileges by transmitting encrypted rights keys to a large number of recipient devices. These recipient devices process received messages using the protected processing environment and memory space of the secure unit. The processing result depends on whether the recipient device was specified by the content provider as authorized to view some encrypted digital content. Authorized recipient devices can use the processing result in decrypting the content, while unauthorized devices cannot decrypt the content. A related aspect of the invention provides for securing computational units and controlling attacks. For example, updates to the nonvolatile memory, including program updates, are supported and protected via a cryptographic unlocking and validation process in the secure unit, which can include digital signature verification.

Application behavior based malware detection

An executable file is loaded into a virtual machine arranged to emulate the instructions of said executable file. The virtual machine keeps track of application programming interfaces (APIs) used by the executable file during emulation. The executable file is scanned to determine names of (APIs) used. Behavior flags are set if certain conditions occur within the executable file. The APIs determined during emulation and during scanning are compared with a set of known behaviors. A match of the APIs and the known behaviors indicates a high risk of malware. A determination of malware being present is based upon any matches and any behavior flags that are set.

Method for constructing segmentation-based predictive models from data that is particularly well-suited for insurance risk or profitability modeling purposes

The invention considers a widely applicable method of constructing segmentation-based predictive models from data that permits constraints to be placed on the statistical estimation errors that can be tolerated with respect to various aspects of the models that are constructed. The present invention uses these statistical constraints in a closed-loop fashion to guide the construction of potential segments so as to produce segments that satisfy the statistical constraints whenever it is feasible to do so. The method is closed-loop in a sense that the statistical constraints are used in a manner that is analogous to an error signal in a feed-back control system, wherein the error signal is used to regulate the inputs to the process that is being controlled.

Sub-prime automobile sale and finance system

A system to provide automobile financing to individuals with relatively lower credit scores or ratings, or no credit rating, due to lack of credit or lending purchases, that would otherwise only qualify for sub-prime, higher interest loans. Due to the overall system structure, lower rate interest loans can be extended to participants. The system utilizes the auto financing loan applicant's term of employment and / or other employment performance data as the principal credit criteria to qualify the creditworthiness of an applicant versus the applicant's credit score or credit rating. Applicant's driving records are also reviewed as system automobile loan approval credit criteria. Loan applicants provide employment related information and execute a letter of authorization providing the system with authority / rights to contact the applicant's employer to verify said employment information. In order to provide participants with lower interest rates than would otherwise be available through conventional channels, automobiles financed under the system must meet minimum profile criteria, including the year of the auto, the mileage, retail value relative to the wholesale value, and autos financed under the system are covered by extended warranties and have GPS systems installed for asset protection purposes. In utilizing employment term as the principal creditworthiness criteria, the system can to be offered through employers as an employee loyalty reward program.

Method and apparatus for detecting vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque

Methods and devices are disclosed for detecting vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, or plaque at risk of reducing blood flow in a vessel, by identifying a region of elevated temperature along a living vessel wall. The disclosure that human atherosclerotic plaque with measurable temperature heterogeneity has the morphological characteristics of plaque that is likely to ulcerate provides a new and sensitive technique for detecting and treating these dangerous plaques before myocardial infarction and its consequences occur. The disclosed methods are advantageous over conventional plaque detection techniques because they are capable of differentiating between those plaques that are at great risk of rupture, fissure, or ulceration, and consequent thrombosis and occlusion of the artery, and those that are not presently at risk. Infrared heat-sensing catheters useful for identifying potentially fatal arterial plaques in patients with disease of the coronary or other arteries are also described. In some embodiments a coherent infrared fiber optic bundle is employed to radially and longitudinally explore a luminal wall to identify inflamed, heat-producing, atherosclerotic plaque. Certain other methods and devices are disclosed which are particularly suited for non-invasively identifying and then monitoring the progression or amelioration of an inflamed plaque in a patient, and for monitoring for onset of inflammation in an implanted arteriovenous graft. Also disclosed are thermocouple basket catheters and thermistor basket catheters which are also capable of detecting temperature heterogeneity along a vessel wall.

Configuration and method for bidirectional transmission of signals in a motor vehicle

A method for operating a tire pressure measuring system uses a transceiver. When triggered, the transceiver transmits an energy signal to a transponder in a tire that then responds with a data signal. So that the energy signals do not interfere with other transceivers on receipt of the data signals, the method makes provision for the repetition rate with which the energy signals are triggered to be a function of the speed of the vehicle. Transmission is more frequent at higher speed than at lower speed.

Disc recording apparatus, method for replacing sector on recording disc, and recording disc

A disc recording apparatus (A) for writing data onto a sector providing a recording area (B2) on a magneto-optical disc (B) performs a retry upon failure in the writing until a predetermined number of retries is reached, treats the sector as a defective sector upon failure in the last retry of the predetermined number of retries, and writes the data onto another sector. During a physical formatting, A CPU (11) records in medium management information (B1) on the recording disc (B) a retry count as retry count information for each of recovered sectors recovered from the failure through success in the writing of data during the retry. When actual data is written onto the physically formatted magneto-optical disc (B), and upon detection of a defective sector failed in the writing of the actual data, the CPU (11) selects a replacement sector for the defective sector. The replacement sector has a retry count stored as the retry count information smaller than that of the defective sector.

Secure Mobile Device Credential Provisioning Using Risk Decision Non-Overrides

Embodiments are directed to optimizing the secure provisioning of credentials to mobile devices through use of risk decision non-overrides. In some embodiments, a service provider receives a request from a wallet provider to provision a credential associated with an account to a mobile device. The request includes a first risk level associated with the provisioning. The service provider receives a second risk level associated with the provisioning request from an issuer of the account. Based upon determining that a non-override condition exists, the service provider uses the first risk level from the wallet provider and accordingly causes a user authentication to occur. A non-override condition may be determined based upon scenario indicators received within the provisioning request. In some embodiments, the non-override condition may be ignored when the first risk level indicates medium risk and the second risk level indicates high risk.
