Cross-domain authentication

Providing services within a network of service providers sharing an authentication service and a set of business rules. A central server receives a first request from a first server to provide a first service to a user via a client without forcing the user to present credentials. In response to the received first request, the central server stores data identifying the first service on the client. The central server further receives a second request from a second server to provide a second service to the user via the client after the user presents the credentials to the second service. After receiving the second request and the presented credentials, the central server allows the user access to the second service. In response to allowing the user access to the second service, the central server further allows the user access to the first service as a result of the stored data.

Profile and consent accrual

Consent management between a client and a network server. In response to a request for consent, a central server determines if requested user information is included in a user profile associated with a user and if the user has granted consent to share the requested user information. A user interface is provided to the user via a browser of the client to collect the requested user information that is not included in the user profile and the consent to share the requested user information from the user. After receiving the user information provided by the user via the user interface, the service provided by the network server is allowed access to the received user information, and the central server updates the user profile. Other aspects of the invention are directed to computer-readable media for use with profile and consent accrual.

A monitoring system is provided with a two tier communication network. Multiple first tier nodes comprising wireless or RF sensors are each equipped with transceivers operating at a first, low power level. Multiple second tier nodes are spaced to communicate with selected sensors at the lower bandwidth level, and also communicate with each other at a higher power level and higher bandwidth, to route sensor communications to a central controller. The sensors comprise standard home and small business sensors such as motion detectors, glass breakage, pressure, temperature, humidity and carbon monoxide sensors to name a few, each equipped with a transceiver. The sensors are placed throughout a structure to be protected or monitored. Since such structures can be quite large, several second tier routers are provided such that at least one is within range of each sensor to receive its low power signals. A routing table is dynamically generated to direct communications between routers and the controller

Content alteration for prevention of unauthorized scripts

Methods for preventing unauthorized scripting. The invention generates a human interactive proof to distinguish a human from a machine by generating a random set of characters and altering each of the characters individually to inhibit computerized character recognition. The invention also includes concatenating the altered characters into a character string to be rendered to a user as a test. The character string may be altered to further inhibit computerized character recognition. Other aspects of the invention are directed to computer-readable media for use with the methods.

Contested account registration

Methods and systems for resolving naming contests when a user seeks to register an account associated with a login identifier that is already in use by another user. An authentication server notifies the user of a contested registration when the requested login identifier, such as an e-mail address, matches one of the identifiers stored in an authentication database. The server then solicits confirmation from the user that the login identifier belongs to the requesting user rather than the earlier user. By forcing the earlier user to select a different login identifier, the server renders the existing user account inactive but retains a unique account identifier and associated account information for the inactive user account.

Media identifier registry

A media identifier registry for managing metadata records. The registry stores a unique logical identifier for each of the records as well as a base type corresponding to each of the logical identifiers. The base types are representative of the information contained in the respective metadata records for the corresponding logical identifiers. The registry further defines associations between the logical identifiers and base types. Improvements in identifying media content and related information according to the invention permit building a media data warehouse capable of aggregating data from many different sources, uniquely identify the same piece of content from different data providers, in different cultures, and in different physical forms to allow a consistent set of data to be stored and retrieved.

Privacy policy change notification

Methods and system for managing consent. Embodiments of the invention identify a user in connection with an application or service that requests to use selected information associated with the user according to a predefined policy. After determining whether the user previously granted permission to use the selected information according to the policy, the invention can notify the user if a change has been made to the policy since the user previously granted permission for the application to use the selected information and obtain re-consent. Other aspects of the invention are directed to computer-readable media for use with authentication, notification, and re-consent.

Computerized system and method of performing insurability analysis

A method and system for evaluating insurability of an applicant for insurance from a carrier. A server, receiving and responsive to communications from a client computer, renders a contemporaneous insurability decision. The communications from the client computer include responses to an interactive questionnaire presented via a browser. A database associated with the server stores a comprehensive set of questions for collecting underwriting information and the server executes processing rules to determine which questions to present in the questionnaire. The questionnaire includes base questions and detail questions. The detail questions are each related to at least one of the base questions for collecting further information related to the respective base question. The server renders the insurability decision and exports a summary file to the carrier. The summary file includes the questions and responses thereto as well as the insurability decision.

System and method for ordering printing of images, and system and method for printing edited images

The user of a client computer is notified of services made available by a desired store. A store server is installed in a store. The user of the client computer sends an order-taking server an indication of a service the user wishes to have performed, and the order-taking server retrieves the names of stores providing this desired service. Information relating to stores found is transmitted from the order-taking server to the client computer. The store-related information is displayed on the client computer and a desired store (e.g., one located near the user's residence) is selected by the user. A service relating to image printing selected by the user is performed at the selected store. When the printing of the image is completed at the selected store, the user goes to the store to pick up the printed matter.

Voice call routing by dynamic personal profile

Dynamic telephone call routing. A voice service initiates a voice call session on a data communication network in response to an incoming telephone call directed to a user and generates a notification of the telephone call. An alerts service receiving and responsive to the notification executes a set of routing rules to select a computing device associated with the user. The alerts service also generates an alert directed to the computing device. If the computing device is online, a messaging service sends the alert to the computing device and receives a user request from the computing device in response thereto. The messaging service communicates the user request to the voice service for completing the voice call session to the computing device if specified by the user request. If the computing device is not online, the telephone call is routed to a telephone device.

Static and dynamic 3-D human face reconstruction

A system for three-dimensional (3-D) facial animation, including a base 3-D surface model representing a human face, and a set of displacement fields representing surface motion patterns associated with muscle movements. Each displacement field is a displacement vector varying over vertices of the base surface model and an intensity variable. Both the base surface model and displacement fields are acquired from a live subject by 3-D acquisition. The data are acquired using a surface acquisition system, capable of measuring the coordinates of a set of points on the subject's face and reconstructing the facial surface as a surface model. The base surface model is acquired by reconstructing the surface of the subject's face in the neutral pose. Each displacement field is acquired by reconstructing the surface of the subject's face in a series of poses of a muscle movement at increasing intensities. This results in a sequence of surface models exhibiting the changing shape of the face over the progress of the muscle movement. The displacement field is derived by calculating displacements at each selected intensity value and then interpolating over the known displacements.

Image analysis, editing and search techniques

Disclosed is a method for characterizing the content of a digital image. A component of the method is the homogeneity measure, which calculates a value or values based on the local similarity of portions of a sample area. A further component is a means of optimally adjusting the shape and offset of the local sample area to improve the resulting measure. The homogeneity measure may be applied at a higher level to segment an image, by grouping together larger portions of an image whose sub-components are locally similar. A strongly homogeneous region is a contiguous region composed of elements exhibiting local homogeneity better than that of surrounding elements, and may be applied to identify the scale and other characteristics of a portion of an image. This may be used to facilitate algorithms that separate lighting and texturing information, and in identifying the composition of an image.
