Method and apparatus for determination of additives in metal plating baths

InactiveUS6280602B1Easy to operateEconomic in capital cost and operating expenseCellsSamplingElectricitySemiconductor
An apparatus and method for the indirect determination of concentrations of additives in metal plating electrolyte solutions, particularly organic additives in Cu-metalization baths for semiconductor manufacturing. The apparatus features a reference electrode housed in an electrically isolated chamber and continuously immersed in the base metal plating solution (without the additive to be measured). An additive concentration determination method comprises electroplating a test electrode at a constant or known current in a mixing chamber wherein the base metal plating solution is mixed with small volumes of the sample and various calibration solutions containing the additive to be measured. Plating potentials between the electrodes are measured and plotted for each of the solution mixtures, and data are extrapolated to determine the concentration of the additive in the sample. A multi-cycle method determines the concentration of both accelerator and suppressor organic additives in Cu plating solution in a single test suite.

A multi-antenna communication method capable of improving the retransmission performance in a multi-antenna transmission. In this method, firstly, the reception quality of a substream to be retransmitted is acquired (Step 401). Then, it is determined for the substream whether any transmission antennas, which satisfy a target value related to the foregoing reception quality when they are used for the retransmission, are existent among the transmission antennas that are candidate antennas to be used for there transmission (Step 405). Then, if there exist any transmission antennas satisfying the target value, a transmission antenna to which the poorest channel characteristic corresponds is selected from among those transmission antennas satisfying the target value, and the selected transmission antenna is designated as an antenna to be used for retransmitting the foregoing substream (Step 406). If there exist no transmission antennas that satisfy the target value, then a transmission antenna to which the best channel characteristic corresponds is selected from among the foregoing candidate transmission antennas, and the selected transmission antenna is designated as an antenna to be used for retransmitting the foregoing substream (Step 407).

Method And System For Estimating Rock Properties From Rock Samples Using Digital Rock Physics Imaging

ActiveUS20130308831A1Effectively characterizeEfficiently estimating absolute permeability kSurveyImage analysisCapillary pressureGeophysics
A method is provided for efficiently characterizing rock traversed while drilling a borehole for hydrocarbon reservoir development. A rock sample can be obtained having a provenance of collection linked to a specific region of the borehole, which is scanned to obtain a 2D digital image that is segmented to pixels characterized as pore space and as mineral matrix and defining a boundary between them. A transform relationship, for example, a form of the Kozeny-Carman equation adapted for application to a 2D segmented image environment, can be applied to calculate the estimated value for a target rock property, which can be absolute permeability, relative permeability, formation factor, elasticity, bulk modulus, shear modulus, compressional velocity, shear velocity, electrical resistivity, or capillary pressure, and the estimated value is used to characterize the rock at that region of the borehole. This affords an opportunity to quickly and efficiently develop massive data directly characterizing extended regions of rock, whether traversed by the borehole in this or a related well. Computerized systems, computer readable media, and programs for performing the methods are also provided.

Catalytically Active Gold Supported On Thermally Treated Nanoporous Supports

The present invention provides technology for controlling, or tuning, the catalytic activity of gold provided upon nanoporous supports such as those derived from nanoparticulate titania. It has been discovered that the nature of the surfaces of the nanoparticles used to support a nano-metal catalyst, such as catalytically active gold, has a profound effect upon the catalytic properties of the supported catalyst. The support surface may be altered as desired to control the activity of the gold. The present invention teaches how thermal treatment of nanoparticulate media incorporated into a nanoporous support prior to deposition of catalytically active gold dramatically suppresses the ability of a resultant catalyst system to oxidize hydrogen. Yet, the system still readily oxidizes CO.
