Method and apparatus for optimized combustion in an internal combustion engine utilizing homogeneous charge compression ignition and variable valve actuation

A valvetrain system mechanization for an internal combustion engine using compression ignition, including homogeneous charge compression ignition, having two intake and one or more exhaust valves per cylinder. The valves are operated by dual overhead camshafts having two-step cams. The intake and exhaust camshafts are provided with phasers for varying the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. A two-step roller finger follower is disposed for each valve between the cam lobes and the valve stem. The two sets of intake and exhaust valves are controlled by separate oil control valves. Swirl of gases may be introduced by mismatching the lifts of the valves. The valve opening times, closing times, lifts, fuel injection, compression ratio, and exhaust gas recirculation may be varied to optimize combustion conditions for a range of engine operating modes.

Bio-hazard attack family survival dome

A family protective shelter which can be erected quickly inside in a home living room, family room, patio, or on an outside lawn area. This dome tent enclosure is designed of clear plastic sheet material which is impervious to gases used to conduct chemical warfare (such as nerve gas, mustard gas, serin, cyanide, and the like) dispersed biohazard aerosol compounds (such as anthrax, smallpox, polio, bacteria, viruses, or fungi), or other atmospheric toxins, such as those from a nuclear fallout. This protective “pop-up”, external frame enclosure will be sized to house at least two adults comfortably (6×9×7 high inside, up to about 10×18′×7′ high), will incorporate a zip-lock entrance / egress isolation portal chamber, and will communicate to the outside world through combat gas mask filters, plus phone, computer and electrical outlet feed-through, and perhaps a water trap coupling. The invention can keep a family of 1 to 10 (with a larger size) relatively isolated and safe from the harmful effects of a chemical biohazard, or nuclear fallout enemy attack for a matter of hours up to several days. The portal chamber can also connect together additional modules.

Thermoelectrically cooled water trap

A water trap system based on a thermoelectric cooling device is employed to remove a major fraction of the water from air samples, prior to analysis of these samples for chemical composition, by a variety of analytical techniques where water vapor interferes with the measurement process. These analytical techniques include infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry and gas chromatography. The thermoelectric system for trapping water present in air samples can substantially improve detection sensitivity in these analytical techniques when it is necessary to measure trace analytes with concentrations in the ppm (parts per million) or ppb (parts per billion) partial pressure range. The thermoelectric trap design is compact and amenable to use in a portable gas monitoring instrumentation.

Inward facing turning edges also reside between the front and rear wheel wells and improve in-water handling. Wheels are retractable by pneumatic cylinders in parallel with air shock absorbers and suspension cutout in the hull allow the suspension to lower through the hull. Flaps reside under suspension members and rise to cover the suspension cutouts when the wheels are retractable when the wheels are raised to reduce drag. Apparatus and method of mosquito control

A mosquito control trap taking advantage of the normal stages of development for a mosquito. The trap including stagnant water trapped within a container by a weeping platform floating on top of the water. A series of holes in the weeping platform provide exposure of the water to form brood cups in which female mosquitoes lay eggs. In order to develop through the larva and pupa stage the developing insects must enter the larger reservoir of stagnant water, since there is insufficient room in the brood cups. However, the holes are too small to permit escape of the adult mosquito, thus preventing any of the eggs from developing. This device provides a means for controlling mosquitoes without the use of pesticides and is especially suitable for use in lesser developing countries.

The invention discloses an enrichment analysis instrument of carbon and nitrogen of the greenhouse gases of CO2 and N2O. A greenhouse gas sample collected by a sampling tube is led through a sample guiding valve under the He gas, is dehydrated by an electron cold trap, undergoes enrichment and transferring in a liquid nitrogen cold trap, undergoes separation by a chromatographic column and dehydrating by a water trap and is led into a gas isotope mass spectrometer through an opened shunting port for being detected. The enrichment analysis instrument has the port which is directly connected with an isotope mass spectrometer mainframe, is an independent accessory device of the isotope mass spectrometer and carries out assay determination on isotope abundance of the carbon and the nitrogen of the greenhouse gases of CO2 and the N2O which are greenhouse gases at the same time. The gas is transferred from a cold trap T1 to a cold trap T2 through conversion of gas-carrying flow and by changing a freezing state of the target gas in the traps. Meanwhile, other impurity gases which are captured by a freezing gas are released and thus, good chromatographic peak shapes and higher purity of the sample are achieved and the testing precision is improved.
