Compression connector and method of use

A compression connector for coupling an end of a coaxial cable and method of use is discussed. The connector includes a post, configured to be inserted into an end of the coaxial cable around the dielectric and under the protective outer jacket thereof. The device further includes a connector body, operatively positioned with respect to the post and including a plurality of closeable fingers, a fastener member, slidably receivable with respect to the connector body for closing the closeable fingers and for securing, in both directions, axial movement of the fastener member with respect to the connector body, an outer compression sleeve, and a threaded nut, engageable with the outer compression sleeve for securely coupling the hand installable compression connector to a coaxial cable interface port. An advantage of this connector is installation without the need for specialized tools.

High speed, high density electrical connector

In one embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed an electrical connector connectable to a printed circuit board, the electrical connector having an insulative housing including side walls and a base. The electrical connector also includes signal conductors and ground conductors. Each of the signal conductors and ground conductors has a first contact end connectable to the printed circuit board, a second contact end, and an intermediate portion therebetween that is disposed in the base of the insulative housing. The signal conductors and the ground conductors are arranged in a plurality of rows, with each row having signal conductors and ground conductors. For each of the plurality of rows, there is a corresponding ground strip positioned adjacent thereto disposed in the base of the insulative housing. And the ground strip is electrically connected to the ground conductors of the row.

A pivoting strain relief bar assembly that is comprised of a patch panel rotatably coupled to a strain relief bar, where the patch panel and strain relief bar are also coupled to a conventional rack capable of supporting telecommunications or other electronic equipment. Cables that are to be terminated to the patch panel are secured to and supported by the strain relief bar. The strain relief bar is capable of locking in a substantially horizontal position and thus remains fixed while supporting a large number of network cables. The strain relief bar can also be unlocked and rotated, allowing a technician to access the patch panel without having to unnecessarily disconnect cables.

An assembly for providing a weatherproof feedthrough for data communications cables into a structure. The assembly includes a unique housing having a cavity for removably receiving a connector attached to a terminal end of a cable in a fixed orientation. A cable from the unprotected side of the structure enters the assembly such that a connector disposed on its terminal end may be connected to the connector in the cavity. Cable connector with shielded termination area

A cable connector is provided that has a connector housing that is thin and takes the form of a wafer. Terminals are held within the housing and termination portions extend lengthwise from the terminals. The termination portions extend out from the housing for terminating bare conductors of signal wires to them. A grounding shield is provided that extends over the signal terminals from their contact portions at the front end of the connector to their rear termination portions. The grounding shield thereby provided a ground extent over the termination area that increases the electrical affinity of the signal wires to the grounding shield so as to reduce crosstalk and noise during operation at high frequencies. In one embodiment, the grounding shield includes a separate extension that is connected to the base grounding shield. In another embodiment, the grounding shield has a length sufficient to extend over the termination area.

A busbar assembly for electrically connecting a plurality of conductors includes a housing defining an interior cavity and first and second ports. The first and second ports each include a conductor passage and communicate with the interior cavity. The conductor passages are each adapted to receive a conductor therethrough. An electrically conductive busbar conductor member is disposed in the interior cavity. At least one holding mechanism is provided to selectively secure each of the conductors to the busbar conductor member for electrical contact therewith. Sealant is disposed in the conductor passages of each of the first and second ports. The sealant is adapted for insertion of the conductors therethrough such that the sealant provides a seal about the inserted conductors. The sealant may be a gel.

Coaxial cable connector with deformable compression sleeve

A male compression-type coaxial cable connector having a compression sleeve slidingly disposed within an axial conduit within a connector body. The prepared end of the coaxial cable is inserted through the compression sleeve and advanced into the connector body. Subsequent advancement of the compression sleeve within the axial conduit, with the assistance of a compression tool, forces the deformable leading end of the compression sleeve radially inward to compress the cable jacket and braid thereby providing secure attachment of the connector to the cable. In a first embodiment, the compression sleeve is removable and can be replaced with another compression sleeve having a different inner diameter to accommodate a variety of coaxial cables. In a second embodiment, the compression sleeve is permanently attached to the connector. Advancement of the compression sleeve forces a separate compression ring disposed within the conduit forwardly, the compression ring deforming inwardly during advancement to affix the cable to the connector. In a third embodiment, the barb, which is disposed on the trailing end of prior art shanks, is disposed forward of the trailing end of the shank.

A coaxial connector for attaching the end of a coaxial cable to an equipment port includes a tubular post, a coupler, a body member having a cylindrical sleeve, and one or more reservoirs containing a chemical component disposed between the post and the cylindrical sleeve. Insertion of the coaxial cable into the connector opens the reservoir, releases the chemical component, and secures the jacket of the cable within the cylindrical sleeve.
