Monitoring system and method implementing failure time spectrum scan

A channel plan with a corresponding test plan are implemented in connection with a plurality of nodes that communicate signals. The channel plan has one or more predefined specifications for each of one or more signal channels on each of the nodes. The channel plan enables a monitoring system to, among other things, conduct automatic periodic test plans, comprising tests, on the nodes, based upon the predefined data specified in the channel plan. Each test plan prescribes measurement of at least one signal parameter, pertaining to one or more nodes as a whole and / or to one or more channels contained within the nodes. The monitoring system includes a spectrum analyzer, a switch enabling the spectrum analyzer to interface with the nodes, and a controller controlling the switch and the spectrum analyzer. The controller is configured to enable creation of and display the channel plan and test plan, based upon user inputs. Notably, the controller can be configured to compare results from tests with alarm limits, specified in the test plan, to control the spectrum analyzer to perform a failure time spectrum scan when one or more test results exceed one or more alarm limits, and to generate a plot of power amplitude versus frequency over the frequency spectrum of the node at issue.

Medication dispensing and control unit

A medication and dispensing system tracks the medication of multiple users over time and preferably combines this information with periodic test results provided to the system. The system is designed to allow remote access electronically to authorized users whereby doctors or other medical professionals can review the data of actual medication dispensed and preliminary test results accumulated over time. Preliminary analysis of the data is conducted by the system to determine alert conditions. Such alert conditions include incorrect medication dispensing (i.e. failure to take a prescribed medication) and test results that warrant investigation. Many different types of alerts may be programmed into the software of the device.

Method and apparatus for centrally managed encrypted partition

A method and apparatus for protecting a remote computer connected through a network to a main computer, by creating a cryptokey on the main computer, supplying the cryptokey to the remote computer and mounting a partition on the remote computer using the cryptokey. The cryptokey is not persistently stored on the remote computer but rather saved in its memory, and the connection of the remote computer to the main computer is periodically tested. Once the remote computer is disconnected, the encrypted partition is unmounted and the cryptokey is erased form the memory, thus disabling access of an attacker to data stored in the encrypted partition. The method incorporates swap partition encryption using a cryptokey created each time during the boot of the remote computer.

Implantable Medical Device with Automatic Ischemia Threshold Determination

An implantable medical device (IMD) performs periodic testing of a patient to determine ischemia threshold information. At selected times while the patient is at rest, the IMD increases the pacing rate over time until it receives feedback either from the patient or from an ischemia sensor. The IMD determines the threshold based upon the pacing rate at the time when the feedback was received. The threshold information can be used to adjust the upper pacing rate that can be used during rate adaptive pacing, to determine the effects of drug therapy, and to provide a general indication of the state of coronary artery disease in the patient. The periodic increase of pacing rate to the ischemic zone also provides a preconditioning of the myocardium to allow the patient greater exercise benefit without angina.

Cervical acid phosphatase - papanicolaou (CAP-PAP) test kit, method and accesories, processes for producing and using the same

Cervical Acid Phosphatase-Papanicolaou Test Kit (CPK) is an assembly of reagents, controls and instructions for visualization of cervical acid phosphatase on smears or monolayers of cervical specimens, and for performing the CAP-PAP Test (CPT). CPT is a single-slide, double-staining method for demonstration of cervical acid phosphatase activity inside abnormal cervical cells on Papanicolaou stained smears, and a set of criteria for using this test for cervical cancer screening. In previous clinical trials this method was found to enable Pap test screeners to improve test sensitivity (detection of abnormal cells) for more than 10% (from 0.8 to 0.9), and to reduce false negative readings (missing abnormal cells) for more than 50% (from 0.1 to 0.02). Due to better accuracy and the low cost, when approved, CPT may begin to replace current technologies for cervical cancer screening. CPK is designed to meet requirements for testing large series of specimens on regular basis-the usual practice in cytopathology laboratories performing the Pap test. CPK brings consistency for staining and interpretation, makes internal and external controls easier, and improves the test accuracy for lower cost, while increases laboratory productivity for less liability.

Power-efficient data-load-efficient method of wirelessly monitoring rotating machines

ActiveUS9913006B1Optimize diagnostic monitoring effectivenessOptimize power consumption reductionVibration measurement in solidsSub-station arrangementsPower efficientData acquisition
Data acquisition and automatic diagnosis is performed at test points by respective wireless monitoring units (WMU). Each WMU tests a first indicator periodically at a first rate to determine whether to test a full set of indicators. Evolution of the first indicator determines the pass / fail result of a reduced assessment of the corresponding test point. The pass / fail result is automatically sent off-site to a central database. When a fail occurs, a full assessment is performed, which includes monitoring the full set of indicators. Automatic diagnosis is performed based on the full set of indicators. The reduced assessment does not include automatic diagnosis of a test point, but is used to decide whether to perform the full assessment and automatic diagnosis. Results of the automatic diagnosis are sent to the central database. Raw data is not sent automatically.

Method of detecting the opening of closed roads

The described principles provide a method and system for identifying a potentially closed road based on reroute requests, and of accommodating the potential road closure while continuing to test the road status periodically via routing decisions and rerouting requests. While the optimal route assumes that the potentially closed road is open, a replacement route is defined assuming that the potentially closed road is closed. A fraction of users are sent along the optimal route, and if a reroute request is received, the potentially closed road is assumed to be closed still. The affected user is rerouted to a recovery route that matches the optimal route up to the potentially closed road, and then differs from the optimal route thereafter to avoid the potentially closed road.
