1432 results about "Mixed mode" patented technology

Definition of: mixed mode. mixed mode. The combination of analog and digital processing. It typically refers to the capabilities of a single chip that performs both functions. For example, a chip may contain analog to digital (ADC) and/or digital to analog (DAC) conversion along with a microprocessor or state machine for digital processing.

Mixed mode pulsing etching in plasma processing systems

A method for processing substrate in a chamber, which has at least one plasma generating source, a reactive gas source for providing reactive gas into the interior region of the chamber, and a non-reactive gas source for providing non-reactive gas into the interior region, is provided. The method includes performing a mixed-mode pulsing (MMP) preparation phase, including flowing reactive gas into the interior region and forming a first plasma to process the substrate that is disposed on a work piece holder. The method further includes performing a MMP reactive phase, including flowing at least non-reactive gas into the interior region, and forming a second plasma to process the substrate, the second plasma is formed with a reactive gas flow during the MMP reactive phase that is less than a reactive gas flow during the MMP preparation phase. Perform the method steps a plurality of times.

Framework for generating mixed-mode operations in loop-level simdization

A method, computer program product, and information handling system for generating mixed-mode operations in the compilation of program code for processors having vector or SIMD processing units is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, program instructions making up the body of a loop are abstracted into virtual vector instructions. These virtual vector instructions are treated, for initial code optimization purposes, as vector instructions (i.e., instructions written for the vector unit). The virtual vector instructions are eventually expanded into native code for the target processor, at which time a determination is made for each virtual vector instruction as to whether to expand the virtual vector instruction into native vector instructions, into native scalar instructions, into calls to pre-defined library functions, or into a combination of these. A cost model is used to determine the optimal choice of expansion based on hardware / software constraints, performance costs / benefits, and other criteria.

Mixed Mode Transaction Protocol

As opposed to using one type of technology from the beginning of a transaction to the end of a transaction at the point of sale, embodiments of the present invention are related to useful techniques for conducting mixed mode transactions. A mixed mode transaction combines at least two modes of communication used in transaction processing. A transaction may start by initiating the transaction using a first communication mode between a first device and a second device. The first device may be a consumer's mobile device, and the device may be a merchant access device or point of sale terminal. To continue the transaction, a second mode of communication may be initiated. The first and second communications modes may be a physical interaction-based mode, a contact or contactless chip mode, a Bluetooth mode, a WiFi mode, an infrared (IR) mode, or any other suitable communication mode.

Mixed mode microfluidic systems

Methods and systems that employ hybrid fluid flow profiles for optimized movement of materials through channel networks. These systems employ hybrid pressure-based and electrokinetic based flow systems for moving materials through interconnected channel networks while maintaining interconnection among the various channel segments. In particular, the invention is generally directed to channel networks where flow in a first channel segment is driven by pressure flow with its consequent parabolic flow profile, while flow in an interconnected channel segment is dominated by electrokinetic flow with its consequent plug flow profile. The invention also provides channel networks wherein fluid flow in channel segments is driven by both pressure and electric field and the multiple species contained in a fluid plug are separated (and can be concentrated) by altering the applied pressure and electric fields in the various channel segments of the channel networks.

Wireless messaging preambles allowing for beamforming and legacy device coexistence

A modified preamble is used by extended devices that operate in mixed mode environments and green field environments, to accommodate beamforming of transmissions. In one process, an extended wireless device processes data for transmission of that data as a packet, wherein the extended wireless device is a device configured to communicate using a standard protocol understood by each node device and an extended protocol not understood by legacy node devices. If the packet is to be directed at an extended device, the extended wireless device sends a preamble of that packet that is usable in an extended mode at extended devices and usable at a receiving legacy device to determine that the receiving legacy device is not the destination of data to follow the preamble. Once the receiving legacy device is expected to be deferring the network, the extended wireless device can beamform its signal or otherwise vary from the legacy protocol in communications with extended devices.
