Soluble, degradable poly(ethylene glycol) derivatives for conrollable release of bound molecules into solution

PEG and related polymer derivatives having weak, hydrolytically unstable linkages near the reactive end of the polymer are provided for conjugation to drugs, including proteins, enzymes, small molecules, and others. These derivatives provide a sufficient circulation period for a drug-PEG conjugate, followed by hydrolytic breakdown of the conjugate and release of the bound molecule. In some cases, drugs that demonstrate reduced activity when permanently coupled to PEG maintain a therapeutically suitable activity when coupled to a degradable PEG in accordance with the invention. The PEG derivatives of the invention can be used to impart improved water solubility, increased size, a slower rate of kidney clearance, and reduced immunogenicity to a conjugate formed by attachment thereto. Controlled hydrolytic release of the bound molecule into an aqueous environment can then enhance the drug's delivery profile by providing a delivery system which employs such polymers and utilizes the teachings provided herein.

It is noted that the first, second, and third HOEs may be activated concurrently or sequentially with the display of the first, second, or third color components of the first two-dimensional image. After the first, second, and third color components are displayed, the first, second and third switchable HOEs are deactivated. Then, first, second, and third color components of a second two-dimensional image are sequentially displayed. The second two-dimensional image represents a second slice of the three-dimensional image. A fourth switchable HOE may be activated to focus the first color component of the second two-dimensional image onto a second image plane. The second image plane is adjacent to the first image plane.

Method of compensating missing nozzle and printer using the same

InactiveUS20060125850A1Appropriate image qualityOther printing apparatusImaging qualityIncrease size
A method of compensating a missing nozzle of a printer and a printer using the same. The method includes determining adjacent nozzles corresponding to the missing nozzle, and compensating the missing nozzle by generating dots having an increased size through the adjacent nozzles and generating dots having a normal size through other nozzles when the missing nozzle is generated in the nozzles performing a printing operation. Therefore, it is possible to compensate operations of all color nozzles as well as the black nozzle. As a result, the method of compensating the missing nozzle of the printer compensates operations of the missing nozzle when an image having a composite color is printed as well as when the black image is printed. In addition, it is possible to maintain appropriate image quality by compensating the operation of the missing nozzle through other adjacent nozzles even when a portion of the adjacent nozzles is out of order, since the number of the adjacent nozzles is larger.

Method for forming interlayer connectors to a stack of conductive layers

A method forms interlayer connectors extending to conductive layers of a stack of W conductive layers interleaved with dielectric layers. The stack is etched to expose landing areas at W−1 conductive layers using a set of M etch masks. For each etch mask m, m going from 0 to M−1, there is a first etching step, at least one mask trimming step, and a subsequent etching step following each trimming step. The etch mask may cover Nm+1 of the landing areas and the open etch region may cover Nm of the landing areas. N equals 2 plus the number of trimming steps. The trimming step may be carried out so that the increased size open etch region overlies an additional 1 / N of the landing areas. Part of the stack surface may be shielded during the removing step to create dummy areas without contact openings.

An improved structure of a spark plug is provided to ensure a high strength of joint between a ground electrode and a metal shell. The ground electrode is resistance-welded to the metal shell so that it is embedded partially in an end surface of the metal shell to create a weld interface extending from the end surface to an inner periphery of the metal shell, thus resulting in an increased size of the weld interface to increase the joint strength. The resistance welding keeps the temperature of a weld between the ground electrode and the metal shell at a lower level during welding as compared with laser welding, thus minimizing solidification cracking in the weld.
