Planning system, method and apparatus for conformal radiation therapy

A system and associated methods to determine an optimal radiation beam arrangement are provided. The system includes a computer planning apparatus which includes a treatment plan optimization computer having a memory and an input device in communication with the treatment plan optimization computer to provide user access to control functions of plan optimization software. An image gathering device is in communication with the treatment plan optimization computer through a communications network to provide an image slice of the tumor target volume and the non-target structure volume. The plan optimization software computationally obtains and then optimizes a proposed radiation beam arrangement iteratively based on constraints to form an optimized radiation beam arrangement. A conformal radiation therapy delivery device in communication with the treatment plan optimization computer through the communications network then applies the optimized radiation beam arrangement to the patient.

High temperature composite pipe wrapping system

A method and apparatus for providing metal or non-metal vessels, including straight and curved pipes and various pipe connections, such as T's, elbows, swages, etc., and pressure containing vessels such as tanks, with an external composite lining of a webbing of biaxial or triaxial weave preferably composed of fiberglass which is pre-impregnated with a high temperature heat curable polymer composition capable of being heat cured at a temperature range of from about 275° F. to about 375° F. The vessel is prepared for bonding by abrasive cleaning and by solvent cleaning. Metal imperfections are then filled with an epoxy. A small amount a quick setting epoxy is employed to attach one end of the web to the external surface of the vessel in oriented position for wrapping of the web in intimate surface-to-surface contact with the vessel. During wrapping only enough tension is applied to the pre-impregnated webbing to eliminate any wrinkles. The number of layers of the impregnated webbing will be determined by the safe pressure containing capability of the pipe or vessel and its composite lining. An external heating element is then placed about the wrapping of pre-impregnated webbing material so as to be in substantially intimate relation therewith and is energized to apply sufficient heat for a sufficient period of time to completely cure the epoxy surface filler and to cure the polymer resin components of the pre-impregnated woven wrappings of webbing.

Method and system employing distinguishable polymerases for detecting ternary complexes and identifying cognate nucleotides

Method of identifying a cognate nucleotide (i.e., the “next correct nucleotide”) for a primed template nucleic acid molecule. In some embodiments, an ordered or random array of primed target nucleic acids characterized by different cognate nucleotides can be evaluated using a single imaging step to identify different cognate nucleotides for a collection of different primed template nucleic acid molecules. An optional incorporation step can follow the identifying step. A polymerase different from the ones used in the binding and examination steps can be used to incorporate a nucleotide, such as a reversible terminator nucleotide, preliminary to identification of the next cognate nucleotide.

Process and apparatus for removing residues from semiconductor substrates

The present invention generally relates to a system for cleaning substrates. More particularly, the present invention relates to process(es) for effecting chemical removal of residues from semiconductor substrates, including silicon wafers, using a system of reactive reverse micelle(s) or microemulsions in a densified carbon dioxide matrix. Various reactive chemical agents in the reactive micelle system may be used to effect cleaning and removal of etch and metal residues to levels sufficient for commercial wafer production and processing.

Method, system and apparatus for diagnostic testing of an electrochemical cell stack

Embodiments of the pertinent invention relates to apparatus, systems and methods for diagnostic testing of an electrochemical cell stack, such as a fuel cell stack or an electrolyzer cell stack. According to one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a multiplexer for switching current to one or more cells in the electrochemical cell stack, a voltage monitor for monitoring the voltage between the anode plate and the cathode plate of one or more cells, a power supply module for supplying power to the multiplexer and a gas supply module for supplying fuel gas and non-fuel gas to the electrochemical cell stack. The apparatus further comprises a control module electrically connected to and configured to control the multiplexer, the voltage monitor, the power supply module and the gas supply module to conduct automatic diagnostic testing of the electrochemical cell stack. The control module is further configured to determine, through the diagnostic testing, whether the electrochemical cell stack has one or more gas leaks. If one or more gas leaks is detected, the control module determines which of the one or more cells is affected by the gas leak. The control module is further configured to determine a degree of crossover of electrochemical reactant through the membrane of each cell and whether any of these cells is likely to be short-circuited.
