Predistortion mechanism for compensation of transistor size mismatch in a digital power amplifier

A novel and useful apparatus for and method of predistortion compensation of device (e.g., transistor) mismatch in a digital power amplifier (DPA). The device mismatch predistortion mechanism of the present invention addresses the problem of matching between two types of binary weighted transistors, whereby mismatched transistors cause degradation in wideband noise. The invention provides a digital predistortion mechanism which functions to pre-distort the mismatch ratio based on a data table calculated a priori enabling a polar transmitter to meet output spectrum and error vector magnitude (EVM) requirements of the particular modern wideband wireless standard, such as GSM, 3G WCDMA, etc.

System and method for learning models of radiotherapy treatment plans to predict radiotherapy dose distributions

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for developing radiotherapy treatment plans though the use of machine learning approaches and neural network components. A neural network is trained using one or more three-dimensional medical images, one or more three-dimensional anatomy maps, and one or more dose distributions to predict a fluence map or a dose map. During training the neural network receives a predicted dose distribution determined by the neural network that is compared to an expected dose distribution. Iteratively the comparison is performed until a predetermined threshold is achieved. The trained neural network is then utilized to provide a three-dimensional dose distribution.

System for predicting reduction in concentration of a target material in a flow of fluid

An ultraviolet fluid treatment system having feedback control using a kinetic model and a reactor model that interact with one another. The kinetic model uses readily measured fluid properties upstream and downstream of a radiation zone to calculate the conversion of a target contaminant as it passes through the fluid treatment system. This obviates the need to measure the contaminant concentration directly, which generally is too slow to permit real-time control. A reactor model relates system operating cost to system operating parameters, such as electrical power consumption and / or rate of oxidant addition, where applicable. The reactor model is linked to the kinetic model and is used to optimize operating cost by adjusting system operating parameters based on a comparison between the conversion obtained from the kinetic model and the overall treatment objectives. A control center, an ultraviolet fluid treatment apparatus, and a method of treating a fluid are also disclosed.

Multistage variable reluctance motor/generator

A compact, rugged, variable reluctance, variable speed, electric motor capable of producing high torque at high electrical energy conversion efficiencies is provided. The present invention provides for a multi-stage motor design having a number of discreet rotor and stator elements on a common shaft. This configuration provides for the simplest of magnetic structures and produces a powerful magnetic flux modelling design technique that is used to further optimize the motor design and subsequent control logic. Thermal mapping of the magnetic mass provides for advanced cooling techniques that are used to ensure long in-service life in the most extreme of industrial applications. The electric motor inherently provides low vibration thereby greatly reducing noise; low turn to turn voltage potentials thereby eliminating costly phase to phase shorting potential; efficient motor operation through the reduction in switching and copper losses in both the machine and its control system.

An apparatus and method useful for partially condensing vapor in the upper section of a fractionation tower to separate and remove a lighter gaseous fraction from a condensed liquid component, such as nitrogen from natural gas. A downflow, knockback condenser is disclosed that utilizes a vapor riser to introduce a flow of vapor into a headspace above a vertical tubular heat exchanger, thereby establishing a downflow of condensed liquid and a lighter gaseous fraction through the heat exchange tubes.

Test method for lossless monitoring and detection for material accelerated corrosion under simulated marine environment

The invention relates to a test method for lossless monitoring and detection for the material accelerated corrosion under a simulated marine environment, which comprises a corrosion accelerating test under the simulated marine environment and a test for the lossless monitoring and detection for the corrosion potential of material, wherein the corrosion accelerating test under the simulated marine environment is performed on a corrosion accelerating module, which can be used for finishing the tests for the marine or industrial atmospheric corrosion, splashed spoondrift corrosion, tidal range corrosion, full-soaking corrosion and sea mud microbiological corrosion. The test for the lossless monitoring and detection for the corrosion potential of material is finished by using a corrosion potential lossless monitoring and detection module. The method provided by the invention has the advantages that an environment for simulating each corrosion area in the ocean is supplied, the test period is shortened by performing the corrosion accelerating test, and the corrosion degree of the material is monitored and detected in the whole process. The method is used for supplying a technical support for evaluating the corrosion resistance of the material under the marine environment, thereby shortening the period of researching and testing the material.

Accelerated ultralow moisture permeation measurement

By measuring ultralow moisture permeation through a barrier material sample at a temperature substantially above ambient, definitive values are produced on an accelerated basis that can be used to accurately predict long term daily performance of that barrier material. The sample is heated to a desired test temperature where there is controlled access to both its upstream and downstream surfaces, and HTO vapor is then supplied at predetermined relative humidity to the upstream surface by fracturing a glass ampoule containing not more than 10 millicuries of specific radioactivity for each test. Radioactive gas permeating from the downstream surface is collected by circulating a very slow flow of dry carrier gas past the downstream surface, which stream flows to an ionization chamber containing a beta-particle radiation monitor. Continuous monitoring generates signals that are converted to calculate instantaneous permeation rates through the sample, and operation at such elevated temperature is carried out until the values being monitored reach a steady state, allowing accurate prediction of the extent of long term barrier protection against moisture permeation the sample will exhibit.
