Sulfonated block copolymers, method for making same, and various uses for such block copolymers

The present invention is a, solid block copolymer comprising at least two polymer end blocks A and at least one polymer interior block B wherein each A block is a polymer block resistant to sulfonation and each B block is a polymer block susceptible to sulfonation, and wherein said A and B blocks do not contain any significant levels of olefinic unsaturation. Preferably, each A block comprising one or more segments selected from polymerized (i) para-substituted styrene monomers, (ii) ethylene, (iii) alpha olefins of 3 to 18 carbon atoms; (iv) hydrogenated 1,3-cyclodiene monomers, (v) hydrogenated monomers of conjugated dienes having a vinyl content less than 35 mol percent prior to hydrogenation, (vi) acrylic esters, (vii) methacrylic esters, and (viii) mixtures thereof; and each B block comprising segments of one or more polymerized vinyl aromatic monomers selected from (i) unsubstituted styrene monomers, (ii) ortho-substituted styrene monomers, (iii) meta-substituted styrene monomers, (iv) alpha-methylstyrene, (v) 1,1-diphenylethylene, (vi) 1,2-diphenylethylene and (vii) mixtures thereof. Also claimed are processes for making such block copolymers, and the various end uses and applications for such block copolymers.

Bone-tendon-bone assembly with cancellous allograft bone block having cortical end portion

The invention is directed toward a sterile bone-tendon-bone assembly with two allograft bone blocks constructed with a cancellous portion and a cortical end portion. Each bone block has an outer curved surface with two opposing longitudinal arcuate grooves cut into the exterior surface which will allow a tendon replacement member to be wrapped around the bone block. The second bone block being in reversed orientation to the first bone block.

Shoe and ankle support with artificial spider web silk

A shoe is provided with an ankle support member to reduce the risk of ankle injury. The ankle support member is a stiff resilient piece of bendable sheet material including a base portion, and a plurality of lateral and medial strips which are inclined upwardly and rearwardly. The ankle support member is bound together with artificial spider web silk for additional strength and flexibility. The base portion has a U-shaped horizontal cross section which extends into and is bonded to the shoe sole. Some lateral strips are connected to medial strips to form inverted support loops behind the wearer's heel. Other lateral and medial strips have free upper ends which are curved toward each other in a transverse direction, and their stiffness deters lateral movement of the ankle to reduce a risk of ankle injury.

Golf club head

A golf club head including a body and a striking plate is provided. The body has an opening. The striking plate is disposed at the opening. The striking plate integrally formed has a striking surface exposed to the outside, a non-striking surface opposite to the striking surface, and multiple ribs spread on the non-striking surface. The thickness of the striking plate is between 1.5-4 mm. The thickness of each rib is between 0.1-3.5 mm. The ribs intersect in the region of which the center of a circle is the geometric center of the non-striking surface and of which the diameter is 20 mm.
