System and method for sweeping mirror enhanced imaging flow cytometry

An imaging flow cytometry system and method which includes a flow chamber, tracking mirror, microscope and imaging optics, image capturing system, device to regulate fluid flow through the chamber, and backlighting generator. The tracking mirror moves at a rate matched to the particle velocity in the flow chamber so as to enhance the sample flow rates possible with the system while maintaining clear and accurate imaging. The backlighting generator passes through the flow chamber and the objective before being focused on the image capturing system. Detected scatter events initiate tracking by the mirror, resulting in imaging with reduced motion blur even at high rates of flow.

Dynamic exposure adjusting method and electronic apparatus using the same

A dynamic exposure adjusting method and an electronic apparatus using the same are provided. The method includes the following steps: capturing a plurality of preview images, a plurality of additional images and a first image, wherein the additional images are not displayed in a display unit of the electronic apparatus;analyzing a luminance distribution condition of the first image; obtaining a long exposure time and a short exposure time according to the luminance distribution condition; retrieving at least one specific image corresponding to the long exposure time and the short exposure time from the additional images; combining the first image with the at least one specific image as a processed image.

Signal processing unit for correcting shading of image signal, and electronic camera

A signal processing unit or an electronic camera according to the present invention performs signal processing on an output signal from an image pickup part in the order of horizontal shading correction and OB clamp. In the horizontal shading correction, shading correction is also pre-performed on a lateral OB signal serving as a standard of the OB clamp. The OB clamp is performed using the shading-corrected lateral OB signal as a standard, whereby a noise generated due to shading correction can be effectively reduced.

Active pixel sensor cell with integrating varactor and method for using such cell

An active pixel sensor cell including at least one photodiode and reset circuitry and an integrating varactor coupled to the photodiode, a method for reading out such a cell, and an image sensor including an array of such cells. The photodiode can be exposed to photons during an exposure interval to accumulate a sequence of subexposure charges at a first node of the photodiode. Each of the subexposure charges accumulates at the first node during a different subexposure interval of the exposure interval. The photodiode is reset during each of a sequence of reset intervals, each reset interval occurring before a different one of the subexposure intervals. An output signal indicative of an exposure charge accumulated at the storage node during the exposure interval can be asserted from the cell, where the exposure charge is indicative of a sum of all the subexposure charges.

Dynamic image recording system with imaging sensors and method

In a measuring system comprising an optical image recording system and a relative movement between the measured object and the image recording system, it is provided that the focal point (F) of the image recording system (3) be allowed to oscillate in scanning direction in order to generate—by superimposition of the oscillation movement of the focal point with the scanning movement—image recording intervals, during which the focal point (F) stops on the surface of the measured object (2) or, correspondingly, the image projected on the camera chip (7) stops on the camera chip. This preferably occurs during a steady unaccelerated relative movement between the measured object and the image recording system. Blurring of the edges of the images is avoided despite relatively long exposure times and moderate illumination intensities.

An electronic image pickup apparatus of the present invention is constructed so that an image pickup lens and a diaphragm for adjusting exposure can operate in interlocking relationship with each other. Furthermore, the apparatus has a panorama mode in which an image is obtained by connecting images taken in a plurality of continuous scenes with each other, and a rapid shooting mode in which continuous image pickup is performed. If the operating mode is set to the panorama mode or the rapid shooting mode, reset of the image pickup lens and diaphragm is performed at the first shot only and the backlash cancellation of the image pickup lens is performed starting from the second shot. Preferably, the exposure adjusting mechanism automatically places a predetermined limit on the exposure time in a normal mode and permits a longer exposure time in the panoramic mode.
