Photostable sunscreen compositions containing dibenzoylmethane derivative, e.g., PARSOL TM 1789, and diesters of naphthalene dicarboxylic acid photostabilizers and enhancers of the sun protection factor (SPF)

A sunscreen composition containing a UV-A dibenzoylmethane derivative, such as 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4'-methoxydibenzoylmethane (PARSOL TM 1789), and a stabilizer for the dibenzoylmethane derivative having structure (I): wherein each R', same or different, is an alkyl group, straight or branched chain, having 1 to 22 carbon atoms. These diesters of structure (I) are quite effective in stabilizing the dibenzoylmethane derivative UV-A filter compounds making them more effective, and effective for longer periods of time.

Optically written display

Two, three dimensional color displays having uniform dispersion of red, green and blue visible light emitting micron particles. Pumping at approximately 976 nm can generate green and red colors having an approximately 4% limit efficiency. One source can generate three colors with approximately limit efficiency. Modulators, scanners and lens can move and focus laser beams to different pixels forming two dimensional color images. Displays can be formed from near infrared source beams that are simultaneously split and modulated with micro electro mechanical systems, spatial light modulators, liquid crystal displays, digital micromirrors, digital light projectors, grating light valves, liquid crystal silicon devices, polysilicon LCDs, electron beam written SLMs, and electrically switchable bragg gratings. Pixels containing: Yb,Tm:YLF can emit blue light, Yb,Er(NYF) can emit green light, and Yb,Er:KYF and Yb,Ef:YF3 can emit red light.

Substrate having a light emitter and image display device

An image display device which prevents damage to an electron-emitting device from discharge between a faceplate and a rear plate is provided. A conductive plate 12 including a transparent conductive film is formed over a surface of a substrate 1, a distance specifying member 13 having a plurality of openings is formed on the conductive area 12, a fluorescent material 14 is arranged in the opening, and a conductive film 15 is arranged on the fluorescent material 14 to for a face plate. A resistance Rx between the adjacent conductive films 15 is set larger than a resistance Rz, between the conductive film 15 and the conductive area 12. Discharge current generated between each conductive film 15 and a rear plate 21 is caused to flow into the conductive area 12 by applying anode voltage to the conductive area 12, which suppresses influence on an electron-emitting device 23.

Skin lightening composition

A skin lightening composition for lightening the natural skin color of a user, and for treating disorders of hyperpigmentation. The active ingredient is methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM), a naturally occurring sulfur compound which may be safely administered topically or orally and which is highly effective for decreasing the ratio of dark melanin to light melanin, and thereby lightening the skin color of a user. The skin lightening composition additionally comprises a liquid solution or a cosmetic carrier such as a cream, a lotion, or a gel, for ease of topical application. Additionally, the skin lightening composition is provided in liquid or solid form for oral ingestion. Topical preparations of the skin lightening composition contain MSM in an amount equal to approximately 1 to 20 weight percent MSM relative to the weight of the entire composition. Orally ingestible preparations of the skin lightening composition contain approximately 200 mg to 5000 mg MSM per serving.
