Memory module and memory system

In a memory module including a plurality of DRAM chips which transmit / receive a system data signal with a predetermined data width and at a transfer rate and which transmit / receive an internal data signal having a larger data width and a lower transfer rate as compared with the system data signal, it has become clear that there is a restriction on the transfer rate of the system data signal and that speeding-up cannot be expected. A current consumption in a plurality of DRAMs constituting the memory module is large, and this is also a factor for hindering the speeding-up. There is obtained a memory module in which a plurality of DRAM chips are stacked on an IO chip and in which each DRAM chip is connected to the IO chip by a through electrode and which comprises a constitution for mutually converting the system data signal and the internal data signal in each DRAM chip by the IO chip. In this constitution, a wiring between the DRAM chips can be shortened, and DLL having a large current consumption may be disposed only on the IO chip.

System and Method for Co-Channel Interference Measurement and Managed Adaptive Resource Allocation for Wireless Backhaul

A system, method, and software are provided for measuring co-channel interference in a wireless network with particular application for management of resource allocation for Non Line of Sight (NLOS) wireless backhaul in MicroCell and PicoCell networks. Given the difficulty of predicting the mutual interference between multiple links, DownLink and UpLink co-channel interference are characterized between each Hub and each Remote Backhaul Module Unit periodically during active service. Beneficially, the co-channel interference metrics are used as the basis for intelligently and adaptively managing network resources to substantially reduce interference and increase the aggregate data capacity of the network e.g. by grouping of interfering and / or non-interfering links, and managing resource block allocations accordingly, i.e. assigning common resource blocks preferentially to weakly interfering links or groups of links and allocating different resource blocks or orthogonal channels to strongly interfering links or groups of links.

Quality of service controlled link adaptation

A quality of service profile for a mobile communication subscriber unit is determined and includes one or more mobile-specific desired quality of service parameters. Actual values for the service parameter(s) is(are) determined and fed back to a link quality controller to determine whether they are in an acceptable range or relationship with corresponding actual quality of service parameter values. A modulation and / or coding scheme for transmitting the information over the radio link is selected or adjusted based on whether the desired and actual quality of service parameters are in an acceptable range or acceptable relationship. A combined “desired” quality of service parameter using the first and second quality of service parameters (or more if desired) may be determined. A combined “actual” quality of service parameter using first and second actual quality service parameter values is determined. Those combined desired and actual quality of service parameters are compared to determine whether they are in an acceptable range or relationship. The modulation or coding scheme (or both) is (are) selected or adjusted based thereon.

Reducing shared downlink radio channel interference by transmitting to multiple mobiles using multiple antenna beams

A radio base station includes multiple antennas associated with a cell. Multiple mobile radios are selected to receive transmissions over a shared radio channel during a predetermined time interval. Information is transmitted over the shared radio channel to multiple mobile radios in the cell during the predetermined time interval using multiple antenna beams. As a result, interference from the transmission appears as white additive Gaussian noise in time and in space in the cell. A “flashlight effect” caused by a single beam transmission over the shared channel during a predetermined time interval that would normally detrimentally impact mobile channel quality detection is avoided. Other methods for avoiding the flashlight effect are described.

Method and apparatus for performing cell selection handoffs in a wireless communication system

A novel method and apparatus for performing cell selection handoffs in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The CSHO method and apparatus of the present invention determines which transmitters to temporarily disable or “gate off” during soft handoff procedures. The method and apparatus of the present invention monitors the channel conditions for all base stations in an active set of a selected mobile station and determines the relative strengths of base stations based on the monitored channel conditions. The method and apparatus of the present invention reduces interference to receivers in a wireless communication system. Specifically, the present invention temporarily disables, or “gates off” selected transmitters (e.g., base stations) during soft handoff procedures and thereby reduces interference to receivers that are not associated with the selected transmitters. Reducing this interference increases the overall voice and data capacity in a wireless communication system.

Method to achieve higher track density by allowing only one-sided track encroachment

A disc drive includes a transducer having a separate element for writing information and a separate element for reading information to and from the disc. In a disc drive designated to read and write long sequential records, the track misregistration budget is reduced to account for previously written tracks not being encroached on one side. An initial track is written. Subsequent tracks are written after a seek in one direction. The subsequent track is written so that the initially written track is overwritten to one side and leaves a track having a width substantially equal to the width of the read element. Records can be written into data bands of a selected number of tracks. A guard band is left between groups of data bands so that data on tracks in subsequent data bands are not overwritten.

Method for encoding and decoding data in a color barcode pattern

What is disclosed is a system and method for encoding and decoding data in a color barcode pattern using dot orientation and color separability. The spectral (wavelength) characteristics of the CMY colorants, commonly used in digital printing, and those of RGB sensors are exploited to achieve high capacity data embedding rates in color barcodes. The present method embeds independent data in two different printer colorant channels using dot orientation modulation. In the print end, dots of two colorants occupy the same spatial region. At the detector end, by using the complementary sensor channels to estimate the colorant channels, data is recovered in each colorant channel. The method approximately doubles the capacity of encoding methods based upon a single colorant channel and enables embedding rates which match or exceed that of other hardcopy barcodes known in the arts. The method is robust against inter-separation misregistration with a small symbol error rate.
