The invention relates to a battery having at least one lithium-intercalated electrode, the electrochemically active material of which is coated on a metallic conductor in the form of a foil, provided that a second metal or the same metal is electrochemically deposited on its surface. If there are crystallites of the metal, the crystallites increase the contact area and reduce the transition resistance to the active material. The carrier material is selected from Al, Cu, V, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni, Co or alloys of these metals or is selected from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and the deposited metal is selected from Cu, V, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni , Co, Zn, Sn, In, Sb, Bi, Ag or alloys of these metals. The microcrystalline size of the electrochemical deposition material is 1-25 μm, preferably 1-10 μm, and at most 10 microcrystalline layers, preferably 1-3 microcrystalline layers are deposited on the carrier foil.
