Method and apparatus for three-dimensional surface scanning and measurement of a moving object

An apparatus and method to scan and collect data relative to the position of a moving object. The method includes the calibration, equations, and algorithm needed to compute the surface coordinates of an object. The preferred embodiment of the apparatus includes two light sources and four area array image sensors, one moving device, and one computing device. The device scans the object, generates data, computes the position, and provides a complete measure of the 3D surface coordinates of an object. The methodology includes calibration of a known pattern to the area array image sensor, equations to map the physical points to the image sensor, algorithms to determine a best estimate of the coordinates of occluded points, and techniques to merge the computed coordinates from different sections of the object.

Remote location of active section of fiber in a multimode intrusion detection system

Intrusion detection of one section only of a multimode fiber uses a light signal launched into the fiber at a location spaced from the source through a single mode fiber to establish a narrow spectral width, under-filled non-uniform mode field power distribution in the fiber. A small portion of the higher order signal modes at the a second location also spaced from the destination is sampled by a tap coupler and monitored for transient changes in the mode field power distribution which are characteristic of intrusion to activate an alarm. The active signal of a multimode optical fiber is monitored for both signal degradation and transient power disturbance patterns that could indicate fiber damage or physical intrusion. A translator can be provided in an existing optical fiber system in which the data signals are translated in wavelength and / or launch conditions to optimize the monitoring signals in an otherwise non-optimized system.

True random number generator

A true random number generator comprises a ring oscillator which is triggered to start oscillating in a first mode of oscillation at an oscillation start time. The first mode of oscillation will eventually collapse to a second mode of oscillation dependent on thermal noise. A collapse time from the oscillation start time to the time at which the oscillator collapses to the second mode is measured, and this can be used to determine a random number. The TRNG can be synthesized entirely using standard digital techniques and is able to provide high randomness, good throughput and energy efficiency.

Ammonia desulfurization optimization control method based on multivariable predictive control

The invention discloses an ammonia desulfurization optimization control method based on multivariable predictive control. Firstly, the overall ammonia desulfurization system is regarded as a two-in-two-out multivariable object, and the augmented state space model is obtained through identification; then, in combination of multivariable constrained predictive control and interval control, intake ammonia flows in an absorption section and an oxidation section of a desulfurization tower are controlled, and the SO2 concentration after desulfurization and the pH value of circulating slurry are guaranteed to be maintained in a given interval range. Through adopting the multivariable constrained predictive control method based on interval characteristics, the sensitivity to model errors is weakened, the robustness of the controller is enhanced, distribution of the intake ammonia flow in different reaction stages of the desulfurization tower can be better realized, coordination control demands are reduced on the premise of ensuring the desulfurization efficiency, the dynamic adjustment quality of the system is improved, the actuating frequency of an actuator is reduced, the ammonia consumption amount is reduced, and economic and environmental friendly operation of the desulfurization system is further promoted.

Phi-OTDR reinforcing method based on polarized orthogonal optical pulse pair and device thereof

The invention discloses a phi-OTDR reinforcing method based on a polarized orthogonal optical pulse pair, wherein a polarized orthogonal optical pulse pair set is used as a detecting optical signal. After detecting light enters a sensing optical fiber, two sets of optical fiber back Rayleigh scattering curves of the orthogonal optical signals are obtained. Mean processing is performed on the two sets of curves, thereby eliminating sensitivity of an optical fiber to the polarized state of the detecting light in a phi-OTDR method, and effectively ensuring capability of a phi-OTDR system for simultaneously detecting multiple events. The invention further discloses a device according to the phi-OTDR reinforcing method based on the polarized orthogonal optical pulse pair. The device is additionally provided with a polarization maintaining switch unit in a traditional OTDR system, thereby generating the polarized orthogonal optical pulse pair which is required in detection. Furthermore a pulse generator adjusts a sequential relationship among the polarization maintaining switch unit, an acoustic-optical modulator and a subsequent data processing unit. The phi-OTDR reinforcing method and the device thereof have functions of eliminating sensitivity of the optical fiber to the polarized state of the detecting light in the phi-OTDR method, effectively ensuring the capability of the phi-OTDR system for simultaneously detecting multiple events, and greatly reducing cost of a detecting system.
