A method for the detection of analytes using resonant mass sensors or sensor arrays comprises frequency encoding each sensor element, acquiring a time-domain resonance signal from the sensor or sensor array as it is exposed to analyte, detecting change in the frequency or resonant properties of each sensor element using a Fourier transform or other spectral analysis method, and classifying, identifying, and / or quantifying analyte using an appropriate data analysis procedure. Frequency encoded sensors or sensor arrays comprise sensor elements with frequency domain resonance signals that can be uniquely identified under a defined range of operating conditions. Frequency encoding can be realized either by fabricating individual sensor elements with unique resonant frequencies or by tuning or modifying identical resonant devices to unique frequencies by adding or removing mass from individual sensor elements. The array of sensor elements comprises multiple resonant structures that may have identical or unique sensing layers. The sensing layers influence the sensor elements' response to analyte. Time-domain signal is acquired, typically in a single data acquisition channel, and typically using either (1) a pulsed excitation followed by acquisition of the free oscillatory decay of the entire array or (2) a rapid scan acquisition of signal from the entire array in a direct or heterodyne configuration. Spectrum analysis of the time domain data is typically accomplished with Fourier transform analysis. Each wireless device measures received RF power on the assigned RF channel at times other than during reception of a signal resulting in transmission by the wireless device of either an acknowledgment signal or a non-acknowledgement signal. Values representing the received RF power measurements and the corresponding times of the received RF power measurements are determined from the stored received RF power measurements and corresponding times and then discarded. These values are stored within the wireless device until successfully reported. A network manager coordinates communication between the wireless devices and synchronizes the corresponding times of received RF power measurement throughout the wireless field device mesh network.

Receive signal strength data associated with reception of radio emissions is generated at each of a plurality of radio sensor devices that are at corresponding known positions in an area where the radio emissions are occurring. Using characteristics associated with reception of the radio emissions at each of the sensor devices, the receive signal strength data generated by each of the sensors is matched as corresponding to a radio emission from the same source. The characteristics used to match receive signal strength data may include spectrum analysis data and / or timing analysis data. Once the receive signal strength data is matched, position computations may be performed on the appropriate set of receive signal strength data to compute the position of the source of the radio emission.

A method useful for evaluating abnormal body tremors wherein a subject is positioned onto a support surface and one or more components of the load exerted by the subject upon the support surface are measured. Simultaneously, the cardiac activity of the subject is also recorded and the time interval between each consecutive heartbeat is computed. The measured load output is modified to normalize the weight of the subject and then plotted against a modified frequency wherein each time interval between heartbeats represent a unit of time and a selected equal number of force measurement samples are interpolated between each heartbeat. The frequency spectrum analysis of such a modified power spectrum graph yields information about body tremor which can be compared to a prior analysis of the same subject or to the same analysis of a standard. The standard is created using the identical method upon, preferably, a sufficient number of subjects known to be free of abnormal body tremor to yield an average measure useful for comparison and diagnostic purposes.

A method and visualization apparatus for spectral analysis of time-and-space varying signals enables high resolution investigation of 3D seismic data for the exploration of oil and gas. The method extrapolates multi-resolution short windows into an average long window then computes its FFT. Extrapolation uses the continuity relationship between data inside and outside of short windows. Applications of the method are illustrated with graphical screen 3D volume displays of amplitude spectra, dip and azimuth, curvature and faults (figure below). Aside from high resolution these displays improve the productivity of a seismic interpreter.

A sulfur hexafluoride gaseous discharge micro component infrared detection device and method relates to a sulfur hexafluoride gaseous infrared absorption spectrum analysis device and method. The invention can accurately detect various products produced by gas discharge decomposition of SF6 and has the characteristics of high detection precision, high spectrum resolution, good absorption peak symmetry, high signal to noise ratio and the like. The invention can be widely applicable to GIS equipment online running local discharge and provides reliable data for GIS equipment online running state analysis.
