48 results about "RAM drive" patented technology

A RAM drive (also called a RAM disk) is a block of random-access memory (primary storage or volatile memory) that a computer's software is treating as if the memory were a disk drive (secondary storage). It is sometimes referred to as a virtual RAM drive or software RAM drive to distinguish it from a hardware RAM drive that uses separate hardware containing RAM, which is a type of battery-backed solid-state drive.

Programmable logic block having reduced output delay during RAM write processes when programmed to function in RAM mode

A programmable logic block provides an improved output delay by bypassing the memory array and multiplexer structure when programmed to function as a random access memory (RAM) and a new value is written to the RAM. A programmable logic block includes memory cells, a multiplexer structure, a memory element, a bypass select multiplexer, and a control circuit. The memory cells implement a RAM driven by a write data input signal and a write enable signal. Each memory cell drives an input terminal of the multiplexer structure. Under the control of the write enable signal, a bypass select multiplexer selects either the write data input signal (in RAM mode) or the output terminal of the multiplexer structure (in another mode), and passes the selected signal to a memory element. Thus, when in RAM mode, write data is simultaneously written to a specified location in the RAM and to the memory element.

Methods and related apparatus for managing access to digital assets

The apparatus disclosed herein, in various aspects, includes a digital asset, and an amulet that comprises an encrypted self-validating string. The amulet may be external to the digital asset. The apparatus may include a manager that cooperates securely with the digital asset and cooperates securely with the amulet to control access to the digital asset as specified by the amulet. In some aspects, the manager cooperates with the digital asset and with the amulet, at least in part, through shared memory in process space. In other aspects, the manager cooperates with the digital asset and with the amulet, at least in part, through a RAM drive in memory, the RAM drive at least partially hidden from an operating system of the computer. In yet other aspects, the manager cooperates with the digital asset and with the amulet, at least in part, through a virtual machine accessible only by said apparatus. The amulet, the manager, and the digital asset are either operably receivable by a computer or are operably received by the computer, in various aspects. Related methods and compositions of matter are also disclosed. This Abstract is presented to meet requirements of 37 C.F.R. §1.72(b) only. This Abstract is not intended to identify key elements of the apparatus, methods, and compositions of matter disclosed herein or to delineate the scope of this disclosure.

Method and apparatus for securing computer mass storage data

In general, embodiments of the invention include methods and apparatuses for securely storing computer system data. Embodiments of the invention encrypt and decrypt SATA data transparently to software layers. That makes it unnecessary to make any software modifications to the file system, device drivers, operating system, or application. Encryption key management is performed either remotely on a centralized Remote Management System or locally. Embodiments of the invention implement background disk backups using snapshots. Additional security features that are included in embodiments of the invention include virus scanning, a virtual / network drive, a RAM drive and a port selector that provides prioritized and / or background access to SATA mass storage to a secure subsystem.

Temperature-variable indexable micro-nano indention testing device

The invention relates to a temperature-variable indexable micro-nano indention testing device and belongs to the field of precise instruments. The device comprises a workbench indexing base, a high-and-low-temperature working cavity and an indenter driving / feeding mechanism, the high-and-low-temperature working cavity is mounted on an L-shaped mounting plate of the workbench indexing base, and theindenter driving / feeding mechanism is mounted on an equipment base of the workbench indexing base. The workbench indexing base is mainly used for indexing a workbench and supporting the whole device, the high-and-low-temperature working cavity can provide an environment atmosphere with temperature continuously changing for the process of test piece measuring and can isolate outside interference, and the indenter driving / feeding mechanism is mainly used for feeding an indenter in the vertical direction and acquiring measurement data through a pressure sensor and a displacement sensor. the device has the advantages that the device is accurate in measurement result, wide in measurement range and compact in structure, and the technical field of mechanical performance testing of materials anddevelopment of equipment for mechanical performance testing of the materials are promoted greatly.

Tool assembly for a ram driven press responsive to the stroke of the ram driven press

Assemblies and methods for processing a workpiece in a ram-driven press employ an active tool contained by a housing that is interchangeable with a passive forming tool assembly in a mounting assembly of the press. The active tool includes a microprocessor and a functional head coupled to the microprocessor. Some assemblies including the active tool include a switch for activating the functional head; the switch may be mounted to the housing such that, when the housing is mounted in the mounting assembly of the press, the switch is triggered by movement of the housing in response to the ram stroke of the press.

Live tooling systems for machine tools

In conventional ram-driven presses, the downward stroke of the ram into a tool causes acceleration of the tool, thereby facilitating an operation on a workpiece by the tip of the tool. While the ram stroke is found to impart sufficient dynamic energy to the tool to facilitate the necessitated operation by the tool tip, there are other more efficient, and in turn, more effective, means and methods of actuating the tool tip, with such means and methods being facilitated from energy derived from the tool's acceleration or from energy from other external sources.
